Affliction 3 Fights Starting To Leak Out, Carano "Very Certain" Shes Fighting Cyborg In August Strikeforce Show
AFFLICTION 3 FIGHTS STARTING TO LEAK OUT
According to MMAFanhouse, Affliction has booked a welterweight bout between Jay Hieron and Paul Daley for Affliction 3:
While not yet officially announced, Affliction's third MMA event is quickly taking shape.
FanHouse has learned that a welterweight bout between Jay Hieron and Paul Daleyhas been signed for the organization's upcoming show on August 1. FanHouse reported earlier this week that Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett have verbally agreed to headline the event.
We also learn from Fighters Only Magazine that Tim Sylvia will be be fighting in August for a "high profile" MMA organization in August, although Paul Buentello has already confirmed that he will be fighting either Tim Sylvia or Gilbert Yvel on Affliction 3.
"We have the contract at home, I am just waiting to get back and send it out," he said. "I'm not allowed to say right now what the show is or who my opponent is."
Asked if the show was a high profile one, Sylvia said "very". Asked if "very high profile" meant Affliction, he laughed and shrugged. "I can't say. I wish I could but I'm not allowed right now."
According to MMAJunkie, it looks like you can add Chris Horodecki versus Dan Lauzon to the Afflictioin 3 event.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the event that lightweights Chris Horodecki (12-1) and Dan Lauzon (14-2) have agreed to meet at Affliction III.
The rumored card looks like this:
Location: Anaheim, Calif.
Venue: Honda Center
Broadcast: PPV
- Fedor Emelianenko (CHAMP) vs. Josh Barnett
- Paul Buentello vs. Tim Sylvia/Gilbert Yvel
- Paul Daley vs. Jay Hieron
- Dan Lauzon vs. Chris Horodecki*
* As long as he doesn't get injured in "Fight Force: Ultimate Chaos" on June 27.
Previously Rumored:
- Vitor Belfort vs. Gegard Mousasi (205)
- Din Thomas
CARANO "VERY CERTAIN" SHES FIGHTING FOR STRIKEFORCE ON AUGUST
MMA Fanhouse also reports that Gina Carano is targeting to fight for Strikeforce on their August show.
Gina Carano, the most popular female fighter in mixed martial arts, said Friday that she is "very certain" she will sign a contract soon to fight for Strikeforce in August, and she expects her return to the cage to be a title fight against Cristiane" Cris Cyborg" Santos.

In a recent interview, current Strikeforce LW champion Josh Thomson mentioned that he would be returning on August and fight the Interim LW champion, Gilbert Melendez.
"I am in the last week of going easy on my repaired ankle and then next Thursday I will see the doctor again for some x-rays and hopefully I will be cleared to go 100%. Gilbert is coming off his victory over Rodrigo Damm and I will be ready to fight him in August."
The strikeforce August event could potentially involve Strikeforce's LW champion against their Interim LW champion, as well as their first ever female championship fight with Gina Carano.
Strikeforce Rumored Fights For August Event :
- Josh Thomson (LW Champ) vs Gilbert Melendez (Interim LW Champ)

I can’t wait for Carano and Cyborg to fight at 145 and both weigh in at 170.

No Way!
Did this entire post during the Sonnen/Miller and Serra/Hughes fights.
Those fights gave me more than enough time.
I watched every millisecond of Machida/Evans and LOVED IT!

This is not a hit at MMA Supremacy, but at all MMA blogs/news outlets reporting on Gina. We’ve been hearing for months that Gina is planning on fighting Cyborg under the Strikeforce banner in August. I suppose she’s going to sign soon although we’ve been hearing that for as long as we’ve been hearing she’s going to fight in August. Hats off the Gina for keeping her name at the forefront of the MMA news while she’s been away from fighting. Until some legitimately new information comes out (i.e. signing with Strikeforce and/or setting a definite date for the match), I can’t get excited. She says, basically, the same thing over and over again, and everyone hurries to write a story.
Again, this isn’t a knock on Supremacy. This was just part of his pretty interesting non-UFC montages, and he’s just passing on the info that several other outlets a reporting on. I just fail to see the news in this specific instance.

I listened to one of Ariel’s and MDS from fanhouse podcast and Ariel is skeptical about a deal happening. He said from what he sensed from Coker was it does not seem like a deal is imminent

Why would Vitor fight Mousasi at 205 when he has moved down to 185? Yes I know Mousasi wants to move up but can’t they do a catch weight at 195? Because alhtough I think he could still beat Mousasi at 205 I don’t want Vitor to get any ideas in his head that he should try and stay at 205 when he has been doing good at 185.
fightlockdown.com
Mousasi is now fighting at 205 or HW whether people like it or not.
Vitor wants to fight at 205 and at 185 (I mean Vitor recently said he wanted Fedor at HW).

When an organization has canceled 30% of their shows and when the last few rumors (show in june, then july, now its august, werdum to affliction, counter programming ufc 100, co-show with dream, etc) never panned out – it may be a good idea to wait for an official announcement.
The author of this fanpost has about 100 affliction fan posts that have never panned out.
Never panned out huh? LOL! So because I made a post that said Fedor vs Barnett in June and now it will be Fedor vs Barnett in August, it didn’t pan out? Hahaha…
Oh, and I find it hilarious that you are calling out my (rumor) fan posts when yours (not a rumor fan post) got front paged and turned out to be completely wrong!

arent you the guy who posted this?

and works for Zuffa? Its pretty obvious where your bias is at.
Dan Lauzon vs. Chris Horodecki planned for Affliction III in August

Zuffa if anybody, but most likely entertainment industry...She's retired.
I’m betting she’s signing with Zuffa if she signs at all. If you follow Supremacy’s timeline of Carano fight news announcements, it’s almost always countered with her doing a parallel action in the entertainment industry: i.e. Maxim spread, doll announcement, Maxim 100 ranking, doll approved, Pontiac promotion… it’s not a far stretch that she probably won’t sign with Strikeforce, She’ll sign with Zuffa if she signs with any promotion because they can provide her with the kind of exposure no other promotion can provide to blow her up further in the mainstream. And it definitely doesn’t take a genius to see this is building to an exclusive entertainment career which is totally her right. Why get your face beat in when you can be successful as a model? I’m guessing she’s pretty much retired from fighting. Fans haven’t figured it out yet though and these “announcements” help propel her entertainment career forward.
which one of zuffa's female fighters are you proposing she fight?
interesting point on the entertainment industry although i hope it doesn’t happen.
