UFC 98 Results: Sean Sherk Decides to Box, Drops Decision to Frankie Edgar
The consensus going into tonight's lightweight UFC matchup pitting top contenders Sean Sherk and Frankie Edgar was that unless Sherk got cute and tried to box with Edgar he would be able to impose his will and get the decision.
Sherk's wrestling was seen as too powerful for the smaller Edgar to overcome.
But Sherk decided to get cute, kept the fight on the feet and dropped the unanimous decision. Every judge gave every round to Frankie Edgar for the 30-27 score across the board.
Sherk, a former champion at lightweight, will have to start climbing the ladder for a title shot from the bottom.
Edgar, a rising star at lightweight until he lost to Gray Maynard in early 2008 has now won two in a row dispatching Sherk and former title challenger Hermes Franca back-to-back. A title shot or a #1 contender's match is likely in Edgar's future.

What?, Sherk has only lost 2 BJ and now Edgar he’s alrady beaten contenders Griffin and Florian one loss won’t kill his chance at another title shot. But he really needs to start going back to basics this kickboxing Sherk is not going to cut it when you have fast guys with equal or better striking in the UFC LW division.
So...
Where did Sean Sherk go after the fight? The very idea of a fighter in his gear with no shirt running around Vegas is comical.
Something sherk needs to understand....

Oh And leaving before he took the drug test could be a possible issue….
Nate, will you be making individual postings for each result in the future or is this a one time thing?
I believe we'll be doing this again

Sherk is done
If he’s too stupid to play to his strengths, he’s never going to be successful. No disrespect to Edgar, but there’s no way Sherk should lose that fight if he shoots the takedown and grounds and pounds.
A wise man told me don't argue with fools
Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who
Sherk will have to win a couple fights before he’s considered for a title shot again. Just the way it goes.
As for Edgar, you’re right that he’s in line for a #1 contender match, but it’s against Gray Maynard… Winner of Guida v. Sanchez gets the winner of BJ v. Florian while Edgar gets another shot at Maynard to see who the #1 contender is…
