Quote of the Day: Joe Warren
"A lot of people, they don't know that I'm gonna be the next world champ at 63 kilos in a few months, and come back [to the States] and rip a hole through whoever wants to fight me here... We plan on putting my kneecap through ["Kid" Yamamoto's] temple, that's what we plan on doing. Front headlocking him and kneeing him until my knee goes through his face. And then, if he doesn't stop, they're gonna have to stop it."
-- Joe Warren talks skull crushing at the DREAM Featherweight Grand Prix in the Royal 'we' on yesterday's Jordan Breen Show. (The segment begins around the 42 minute mark and is definitely worth a listen, along with the Tyron Woodley interview.) The 1-0 Greco-Roman wrestling convert sounds supremely confident going into his Tuesday match with "Kid," and wants to make the tournament favorite pay for hand-picking him as an "easy" opponent. First time out, Warren promised to rip out former WEC bantamweight champ Chase Beebe's heart, and promptly did.

Only one problem…
Yamamoto has crazy power for his weight class. Better hope you don’t get hit Warren, but I’ll be rooting for you.

“Oh, I plan on gettin’ hit by him, you know? But I haven’t found somethin’ yet to put me down. I mean, I’m used to headbuttin’ into guys, to not havin’ gloves and things on. I’ve been hit with some hard punches. I understand he’s one of the best punchers out there. It’d be stupid for me to think I wasn’t gonna get hit. I’m prepared to get hit, but I don’t think that hit— that hit’s not gonna stop me, ‘cause if he hits me, I’m gonna be attackin’ him. I’ve been working a lot on, as soon as he moves to attack, that I attack him at the same time. So if he’s gonna land a shot, he’s gonna eat a shot. And, I think personally, y’know, what does power mean? That means you’re tellin’ everybody that I’m powerful. Who actually knows that? He keeps hittin’ guys and they go down like a ton of bricks, ‘cause they’re dead tired and a lot of ‘em are chumps. I’m not really worried about that. You hit me, you’re gonna have to hit me with a bat, like 20 times, to slow me down. And he doesn’t have a bat, and he’s human, so I’m not worried about these punches.”

This guy related to Phil Baroni?

Awesome. His nickname should be mini Baroni or the tiny New York Badass.

LOL, what about a power punch in the jaw? It’s all about the snap. If it snaps his neck around like a twig, it’s KOing him. I don’t care who you are. Yamamoto isn’t exactly a slouch at wrestling either. He’s very, very good. I imagine Yamamoto squeaks out another decision.

Not me
I hope to see a flying knee that rocks him so hard that it messes up his pretty lil faux hawk

They should let the guy wear a helmet. I don’t care how good a guy is, he can’t beat an elite fighter like Yamamoto after one fight. They probably wouldn’t even allow this fight in the US.

“Probably” should be “definitely.” Then again they probably wouldn’t have allowed him to fight Chase Beebe either. More power to this kid for having confidence, even if Yamamoto will probably ktfo him.

Warren knows he has nothing to lose by acting so confident. Nobody really expects him to pull this off. So with an attitude like this he’ll only have that much more to gain if he manages to defeat Kid. I see him being on the bottom a lot this fight, though.

Wow. Is there any doubt that Joe Warren is a badass?
That fight is going to be sweet if he backs up all his talk again like he did with Beebe.

If he backs up his talk again he’s gonna have the best 2-0 record out there. Beebe isn’t exactly a great fighter but he is damn good and Kid is insane.

he is hyping the fight up good.
