Jose Canseco Calls Frank Trigg, Trigg Says No
According to a report from MMAJunkie.com that talks about today's episode of TAGG Radio, Jose Canseco apparently "called around" asking for some help training for his bout against Hong Man Choi:
Veteran fighter Frank Trigg turned down 1988 MLB MVP Jose Canseco's request to train together for the former major leaguer's upcoming MMA debut....
On today's edition of MMAjunkie.com Radio, co-host Trigg said he "called around" and was disappointed to learn Canseco had apparently done little in the way of preparing for his May 26 DREAM.9 bout with 7-foot-2 kickboxer Hong Man Choi.
Canseco has been confirmed for DREAM's May 26th event that includes a "Super Hulk" tournament in which Canseco is to participate in. He is trying to seek some sort of training in order to be ready for this matchup, but it's a tad late to receive any real training in order to beat a giant like Choi.
It's interesting that nobody really wants to reach out to him. From what it sounds like, all the talk that Canseco had all sorts of ridiculous credentials backing his martial arts experience aren't a reality. He surely is waiting a very long time to finally get in the gym and actually train in MMA. Looks like the slaughter may really happen.

Actually, he has been confirmed, it was on MMAWeekly a few weeks ago that Canseco would indeed participate in the tourney.

I know it’s in the article you quoted, but can one actually be MLB MVP? Isn’t there one per league?

I want to say that Choi will take it easy on Canseco, like Minowa took it easy on that Korean baseball player he fought at DREAM.1…
But unfortunately for Canseco, Choi didn’t take it easy on Bobby Ologun…soooo…
Bobby got fucked up – HMC grabbed his heel, yanked his ass across the ring and hit him in the face.

Frank Trigg, Whats Wrong With You?
He hit 40 HRs and stole 40 bases in one year.
Only Soriano, A-Rod, and Bonds have accomplished that feat in baseball.
Being that he IS fighting in Japan
I’m having trouble deciphering whether or not you’re joking right now.

This fight would never be allowed in the U.S.
the way Japan runs it’s athletic bodies disgraces the sport and is an impediment to legitimacy.
A wise man told me don't argue with fools
Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who
What are these Japanese “Athletic Bodies” you speak of?

I think this went from so-bad-it’s-good to just plain bad. I hope there’s a “mysterious injury” that prevents Canseco from fighting. I don’t know why he’s so vilified or what god he pissed off, but this seems a bit much to let happen in good conscience.
(Ugh, I’m speaking about conscience – please correct me if I do it again)

It’s a travesty but I don’t Jose is at risk to get killed or hurt worse than any legit fighter.
Have you seen his boxing match? Same thing will happen. He’ll get hit, kicked once or twice and either be KOd or turtle in the corner. I don’t think he’s at risk of getting into real trouble.
The man’s broke, he needs the pay-day. He answered ‘yes’ to the question: ‘Would you fight (insert name) for (insert amount)?’ I used to play that stupid question game when I was a kid, and I’d do the same thing if I needed the cash and the persona to make hay off it.
Canseco is a documented ass, but he’s also the only person who was ever honest about steroids in baseball and may have been the one to save the game and ultimately a lot of players’ lives.

Think about that.
