More questions then answers here.
Does this count against his Affliction deal, like his fight in Elite XC? Is AA signed to Strikeforce? Is AA still planning on fighting for Goldenboy? Is Rogers in the Dog House? Then why are they throwing him in the deep end of the pool?
Im Jacked for this card!
YAMATO DAMASHII
This is a huge step up for Rogers. Besides Arlovski’s suspect chin, Arlovski has all the tools to beat Rogers. Arlovski is just much more crisp a striker than Rogers. I like both fighters, but I have to point out that this is quite the jump for Rogers in that he just fight Humphrey and now is fighting the last fighter to fight Fedor. I like Rogers, but I just can’t see him winning here.
This card is going to be AWESOME!

This is a crazy awesome match up. I actually think this will be a close fight.
The real thing here is why is Overeem not coming back now? Does this mean he could be fighting Fedor, and that is why Affliction lent out AA in his place?
Oh now THAT would be awesome!
FAP FAP FAP!!!

They really should move a fight. They don’t have enough fighters to stack cards this hard unless its a network event
I Feel Bad
That this isn’t a CBS event, because it should be! Yikes!

Please switch...
Baroni/Riggs with Cavalcante/Hamman. I hate Phil Baroni so much. Do I really need to watch him gas again? Dude sucks the air out of my house through the TV with his shitty gastank.

How can you hate the New York Badass?
Interviewer: What makes you want to fight?
Baroni: You fuckin’ serious? What makes you want to sit behind a camera and fucking ask me questions? I can’t sing or dance and it beats fucking working, ok?

He has used up too much oxygen for one human being...
Baroni + Hammer House = one of the worst/most hilariously bad pairings in the history of the sport also.

SO, it looks like the winner of the Arlovski vs Rogers fight will fight Overeem for the Strikeforce HW title.

Exactly, so it works out better that way anyway. =D

=)
That may be the main event of their CBS or PPV show.

I don't know about that
Arlovski could be using up the final fight for his Affliction contract to be borrowed (given his needing to fight or be paid regardless). Jumping the gun a bit there if he’s a free agent.
I poop rainbows.
Never said he was a free agent. It will be similar to when he fought for EliteXC on CBS.
He will still have one fight remaining in his Affliction contract (which he will probably use up in Affliction 3) and then he could fight Overeem for the belt if he beats Rogers.

Doesn't add up
What happens if he gets a medical suspension? Affliction is out an ass ton of money.
I poop rainbows.
Two months between events and hes fighting Rogers, so they are probably taking that chance. Also, according to Atencio, they are planning on Affliction 4 for the end of the year (Timmy as well as other fighters still have 1 more fight left on their contract).
I see what you are saying though, and it will definitely be interesting to see how it pans out, since he was scheduled to box too.
The article does say:
The winner of this fight will likely go on to challenge heavyweight kingpin Overeem for the title later this year.

Found Some Info On This
Although Arlovski-Rogers will take place in the Strikeforce cage, the fight is sponsored by Affliction.
This will be the second time that Affliction is sending Arlovski to fight under another promoter’s banner — after Affliction abandoned its own plans for an October show, it pitted the Pitbull against former International Fighter League champion Roy Nelson on EliteXC’s Oct. 4 program on CBS. Arlovski scored a technical knockout of Nelson in the second round.

i like rogers, but i see this being arlovski/rothwell 2.0.
… as long as andre doesnt try anymore cirque de soleil moves.
No way Rogers takes the amount of punishment Big Ben did.

I’m very excited about having tickets to this.

They think heavy hands and weak chin = upset.
You never know in MMA, but definitely would be a huge upset.

Really?
Rogers hasn’t proven to be a world beater, but he hasn’t proven that he’s no more than a journeyman, either. I think he’s got some kind of a shot, and I’ve lost a lot of my faith in Arlovski since he broke my heart against Timmay twice and had his long string of underwhelming performances. Plus, Rogers is a Minnesotan…
I poop rainbows.
Its a silly fight to setup the winner against Alistair Overeem?

Beyond that it’s an interesting match-up. Rogers has some serious power and pretty good reach. Now granted this is a BIG step up in competition for him and a huge test, but that’s part of what makes it interesting. Additionally given that Arlovski has a suspect chin, this fight isn’t exactly a walk in the park for him. If he takes Grim lightly, he could certainly go to sleep.
While this isn’t the best fight ever, it’s far from silly based on the match-up alone. When you add in that it’s a #1 contender fight, it makes it all the more interesting. I, for one, am excited to see this fight as well as this entire card (which looks pretty freakin’ awesome).
Rogers is a big, explosive fighter, but I think too many people give him too much credit. Granted, i’ve only seen him fight once, but I wasn’t impressed. Of course, he has the punchers chance; I’m just not convinced that he’s a match for AA skillwise. He’s going to come out firing, of course. As long as Arlovski doesnt try to brawl with this guy, he should win. I understand that he’s undefeated and all; I just don’t see why EXC, and now Strikeforce, are trying to make it seem like Brett Rogers is the next big thing in heavyweight division MMA…..
