Gametrailers review was good and fair....
….
IGN on the other hand is straight up redonkulous! Why would they let someone who is clearly not a fan of the sport review it? How could he really know if it makes for a good MMA game? Ugh!!!
6.5 Presentation
The lack of ring entrances is disappointing and the menu systems that govern the game are ugly. Nice broadcast-style touches help bring it back up, as does the well-designed career mode.
(This guy over-penalized the game severly on this category)
8.0 Graphics
Collision detection hiccups and the look of everything but the two fighters in the ring don’t help. The focus of your attention almost always looks gorgeous.
(Face palm, the collision detection is one of the games best features, idiot!)
7.5 Sound
A poorly constructed soundtrack will have you reaching for the volume button. Rogan and Goldberg are solid but a bit unexciting.
(FAIL!!! Personal opinion much?!!)
8.0 Gameplay
A good recreation of UFC that will only get better with time. Up the framerate to keep up with the speed and brutality of the genuine article and this game could be truly great.
(Up the framerate? Really?) O_O
7.5 Lasting Appeal
Career mode will last you awhile, especially because your fighter can’t age. The same goes for classic fights and the bevy of brawlers for exhibitions. Barebones online gameplay is a bummer.
(STUPID!!!!! Does he not know the online will be played by a shit ton of peeps over and over and over again?)
7.6
Good OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)
The thing that frustrates me is that I like IGN and they were the main website that sounded positive throught the dev process. They had new info on the game almost every week yet they failed miserably by allowing this guy to review it.
Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."
I’ve never been a fan of IGN’s reviews.

Entrances would be great to skip through.

Yeah...
I get that some people want entrances. But I’d skip them for damn near every fight ever.

Frankly, UFC fighter entrances aren’t all that exciting in real life, either. Had they included them in the game, I think people would fairly soon either turn them off or skip past them. There just isn’t all that much to see.

the problem is that everyone who's professionally reviewing the game does NOT train...
There are a lot of holes in the UFC game. Here are some of the larger ones.
Leg Kicks. Joe Rogan will say, “those leg kicks are paying dividends!” if you land multiple in succession. However, they don’t have anywhere near the damage output that occurs in a real fight. I took Shogun against Chuck Liddell landing almost exclusively leg kicks, both standing and lunging for three rounds. Almost three complete rounds, I should say, because Chuck still had the spring in his step to knock me out cold. In a real fight, no one would be able to eat more than about a dozen of those without going down. The reason leg kicks are so useful is because the part of the leg it attacks is so vulnerable.
Submission game. I feel like I have to destroy someone on the feet or in their guard before I can even think about submitting them. It’s kinda stupid. How come Chuck can stroll across the cage and knock me out cold almost straight away, but I can’t take BJ Penn and submit someone without having to wear him down a bunch?
Ground game. It is way too easy to pass anyone and everyone’s guard. Way too easy. I can destroy pretty much everyone by taking them down, landing in side control and landing knees to the body until the crowd starts to boo. Which takes me to my next point
The crowd booing. Even with the boorish “USA-USA”-chanting fans that seem to fill the seats, at least the real life viewers know not to boo when shots are repeatedly landing. Take someone to side control and land a hundred knees and hammer fists, and the crows will boo. It’s ridic.
Collision detection. The punches don’t really seem to land like they would in real life. They tend to more or less glance every time. Sometimes a right hook will land behind the head of your opponent, but will register as a hit.
Anyway, it’s still a fun game, but nowhere near the game it could have been, or should have been. Still, I can’t wait to create my own Sexyama and run through everyone – JUDO SAIKO!
