If it wasn’t for my second case of RROD I’d be picking it up right now.

I’m in a current debate as to whether I should purchase it or not…

I’ve heard some mixed reviews from people who have it about mechanics, bugginess, etc.

Any thoughts?

You don’t want me involved in a video game. I played professionally when I was about 19, but not console games. This is a whole different thing I suppose. I’d probably get my ass kicked by a 13 year old. I might just have to drop the money.

I've been playing my review copy for a while now...

and I can say that there aren’t a ton of bugs. Every now and then i’ll see a KO where it looks like the final shot misses. but that’s not too often at all.

I was worried about this too. Mainly the controls and how everything would be executed but THQ and Yukes did a great job. I love the controls. After the tutorials you are good to go. Its definately worth it!

I have no complaints so far...

I picked it up at the midnight release last night… got to play it before I came into work.

Its right up there with the demo. I’ve used all the champs so far. I’ve yet to have a Brock Lesnar fight leave the 1st round, his power is massive.

I got a submission on Jon Fitch w/ GSP…. couldn’t get one on the demo against the computer.

Anderson Silva is awkward not being a southpaw.

Kenny Florian is my favorite so far, very well rounded.

I will be tackling the career mode when I get home from work today.

For what ever reason I can not get /use the rubber guard for s__. Its incredible frustrating, considering how well the computer utilizes it on the demo. Can anyone help?

you pull rubber guard by holding L1 (which lets you do special moves for that martial art) and moving the right joystiq clockwise from the bottom to the top. there you can sweep by going counter clockwise from bottom to top or you can go for a triangle

I love this Game i've been playing it since Sunday

the flaws are many and some of the character rankings are stupid (Keith Jardine a 79!,? more like 87). This game should be more like Ea Sports games were you can change player stats.

Favorite characters
Cain Velasquez
Forrest Griffin
Michael Bisbing (I knocked out Yushin Okami in 29 seconds on expert with bisbing)
Anthony Johnson
Tyson Griffin

Also i don’t know how to delete custom characters if anybody knows how plz tell me :P

I hope this game is a success

I want to see more MMA related video-games. It would be cool if some Japanese developers like Capcom or Namco, created a MMA game based off of the Dream promotion. American video-game designers just suck at fighting games, all they know how to create is FPS and football games.

My first fight (not the tryout fight) I got takedowns at will…worked ground and pound, a few failed subs and I felt like we were even on the feet…we went to a decision which I lost 30-26, 30-26, 30-27

Yeah, you have to be patient. WHen on the ground work your strikes and move positionally. Don’t try to go too fast. You have to wear the other guy’s stamina down before you can get a subm

by Brent Brookhouse on May 19, 2009 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Turn on the stamina bar. The lower the opponents stamina (and the higher your own) the more likely they are to get submitted. A mistake I see people make is throwing 7 strikes in a row and then going for the sub. Just like real life that would tire you out and make it harder to really sink in your sub.

Then i was playing as Nate the Great....

and I couldn’t do head kicks? but frank Mir can do flying knee’s?

I was also wondering if anybody uses a character that they are undefeated with? Neither the computer on expert or my friends have beaten me when i’m Forrest griffin. Anthony Johnson is also insane at welterweight. The only time i’ve lost with him was when BJ knocked me out in 36 seconds XD

by Crookswood on May 20, 2009 4:17 AM EDT reply actions

I've done well....

with Brandon Vera (LH and HW). But you are right, Anthony Johnson is a BEAST. He is my St. Pierre killer. I’ve done well with T. Alves.

by JVelez on May 20, 2009 9:18 AM EDT up reply actions

First Impressions...

So I decided to take the plunge since my girlfriend wanted to play a bunch of shit on the Marketplace, and I was basically looking for something to do.

First and foremost, I’m not a huge fan of the right stick movements for transitions, but it works out well for the plethora of movements you can do. I find pausing the game and browsing the action list makes it less frustrating because I find myself yelling at the TV wondering how to go to side control.

Leg kicks are beastly in this game, and you can drain guys easily with a powerful leg kicking machine. Machida is the fastest freak of nature as well, but I’m sure Evans is likely pretty quick too.

Career mode… I made Melvin Manhoef, and I’m currently 10-1. Chris Leben surprised me a bit with how tough he is in the clinch, so now it’s back to the gym to work on my clinch defense.

Grappling is definitely tough, but I find it’s hard as hell with anyone but a BJJ expert. Takedowns with wrestlers and pounding on guys works well, and if your Brock Lesnar, once you mount, it’s over. LHK’d Lesnar, but was beaten 4 times out of 5 using CroCop for shits.

in this game is the interface menu, lobbying system, and D-bags talking crap only because they get A. Silva, who is unstoppable….

by JVelez on May 20, 2009 9:20 AM EDT reply actions

Also....

The decisions are pretty bad. Granted, I try not to go to a decision. However on one fight I got D. Maia vs. A. Silva. Had 10 takedowns on him, leg kicked the crap out of him and attempted 6 subs, only to lose 29-28 on all 3 cards.

Second one was T. Alves vs. St. Pierre. Mounted that dude 7 times and lost 29-27.

by JVelez on May 20, 2009 9:23 AM EDT reply actions

Yeah decisions are horrible. I dominated this guy with takedowns, GNP, rocked him, and got 28-29 loss across the board. I was like WTF? I’m currently 6-8 online ranked :(

2 of those losses came via Rampage armbar…in the first round! I almost threw my controller I was so furios, almost. Its pricey so I didn’t lol.

Started my career mode....

created my dude who, I might add, looks pretty much exactly like me. Same height and weight (6’ WW) but I gave him way better abs than I’ve ever had (hey it’s a video game). Basically made him a sprawl n’ brawl type, really good defense of everything but most of my offensive points are for standing strikes.

I was off to a good start, 8-0, and I got to Anthony Johnson; he beat the dog shit out of me. What was worse is he talked a lot of shit before the fight and then wouldn’t touch gloves. I got Matt Arroyo and Matt Serra as my rebound fights and I knocked them both out late in the first. I was then given my much anticipated rematch with Anthony Johnson. I knocked him out with a wicked left hook in the third so now I’ve avenged my only loss.

I’m only playing on advanced though so I’m not impressed with my performance.

I was surprised at how fast time passes playing career mode. I played from 6-10 p.m. without flinching last night.
