Sengoku announced some details for their summertime "Gold Rush Project" on Sunday's episode of SENGOKU-G:
- no-audience fights in the Don Quijote "Sengoku Gold Cup" will begin in June, with finals taking place as undercard bouts at the next Sengoku event (Sengoku IX) in August
- fighters in the bantamweight (60kg / 132 lbs), featherweight (65kg / 143 lbs) and lightweight (70kg / 154 lbs) divisions will be chosen from the following gyms: Yoshida Dojo, PANCRASE, Wajyutsu Keisyukai, GUTSMAN Shooto Dojo, Kiguchi Dojo, Hori Dojo, SK Absolute, Team ZST

The thing is the japanese fans don’t get in the way like they do in america. So what is the point of this?
Probably just the same reason that TUF has no-audience fights – to keep the results under wraps until they air on TV.
