Shooto's last event, 'The Final Tradition,' which was their 25'th anniversary celebration card, was absolutely fantastic.
Lion Takeshi mauled Rumina Sato with dirty boxing from the clinch late in the first round, after getting pretty much dominated from the opening bell (including a hard left hook that dropped the Shooto poster boy).
Gomi got back on track in a competitive fight with Takashi Nakakura, in which he scored a brilliant 2'nd round KO with a 3- punch combo (Right to the body, and then a left + right hook to the head). In a post- fight interview with Sherdog, he said he's considering going to the UFC. Gomi says 'Hi, Dana!'
Elite LW fighter Mitsuhiro Ishida got upset by the powerful striker Mizuto Hirota. Ishida spent the entirety of the fight backpedaling, and throwing kicks to the inner and outer thigh of Hirota's lead leg, but when Mizuto had Ishida cornered, Ishida desperately fled, and got caught with a stout left hook, and then swarmed with GnP in the 1'st round.
In other news, Shooto and GCM vet Boku stopped rising Shootor Ueda on 1'st round strikes. Megumi Fuji subbed debuting fighter Won Bun Chu in less than a minute with a keylock, which was preceded by kneebar and toe hold attempts. 'Wicky" Akiyo outstruck Takumi Ota en route to a Unanimous Decision.
