The entrances will be entertaining to say the least.

Cuba?

Did they say Jose Canseco is from Cuba? Is he? LOL

by Dexerion on May 10, 2009 10:10 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah, he was born in Cuba. DREAM wants the max # of countries represented.

by Chris Nelson on May 10, 2009 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions

What I found funny about that is that Canseco’s family left Cuba when he was an infant, but they billed him as being from Cuba yet Mousasi’s family left Iran when he was young and they billed him as being from the Netherlands. I guess they wanted to make it seem like there weren’t two guys from the US and there was no way to make it look like the giant space baby was from anywhere else.

uber mensch… whatever that means (in the intro credits)

ubermensch = superman

As in “Super Hulk Tournament ~ World Superman Championship.”

Wow…that..was…schweeet.

by AnonymousA on May 10, 2009 10:24 PM EDT reply actions

I hate that I like this promo so much.

I hope by “tournament” they mean “one night of crappy fights” because I really don’t want to see Mousasi mixed up in this mess.

It's an 8-man tournament spread over three events.

Mousasi has the only real fight in the first round and will probably have to go through HMC and Sokoudjou after this. Between the tourney and Mousasi taking tune-up fights at 205 against DEEP guys with .500 records, I’ll take the tourney.

You agree that Gegard’s the favorite to win the thing?

Is that arguable?

I poop rainbows.

by Blackout612 on May 10, 2009 11:46 PM EDT up reply actions

For sure. I think he subs Hunt and it’s his to lose from there.

I should know better than to defend the supaharukutonamento… but I can’t wait to see it.

Huh…

Keep firing Assholes!

This is a dream competition for me. I drink as much coffee as I want, and eventually I hallucinate.

by Ubernoober on May 10, 2009 11:02 PM EDT reply actions

Well its safe to say that that is one of the greatest things ever.

by Sam Cupitt on May 10, 2009 11:03 PM EDT reply actions

agreed

As much as I want all MMA to move away from the freakshow aspect, sometimes those Japanese promoters do something so awesome I can’t not get behind it.

I’m disgusted and compelled to watch all at the same time.

It’s about 70% terrible and 30% respectable.

I poop rainbows.

by Blackout612 on May 10, 2009 11:47 PM EDT up reply actions

And 100% hilarious.

by Rundownloser on May 11, 2009 12:37 AM EDT up reply actions

I’d go with 70% terrible, 20% embarrassing, and 10% awesome, and that 10% awesome is the only thing I give a shit about.

The Super Hulk tournament is MMA candy. It will probably rot your teeth, but it is just too damn yummy to resist.

They took something completely lame and turned it into something awesome. Those Japaneses are really good. That’s funny how they turned moussassi into musashi with some katakana trick.

Great promo or greatest promo?

I dislike Matt Hughes.

by MonkeyCHops on May 11, 2009 9:33 AM EDT up reply actions

Greatest promo would be if they make all of the fighters come to the ring dressed as their characters from the video.

I would pay good money to see Giant Nortje come shambling to the ring as a blue prisoner zombie crying out for ‘Brains!!!’ during his ring walk.

One of the best promos, really.
It just made this event a must watch instead of people questioning its questionable morality.

Good job!
=)

*questioning its morality.

Oh my god.

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

I was already planning on watching this, but now I’m pretty sure I never would really live if I don’t see it…EPIC!

by Dabashire on May 11, 2009 3:59 PM EDT reply actions

I would like to buy a poster of this.

I dislike Matt Hughes.

by MonkeyCHops on May 11, 2009 5:42 PM EDT reply actions

WOW! I can’t wait to watch this. I just pray that they stop mid event for a raffle. Maybe a 6ft Wok.

Suuuuuuupra Huuuurrrrrrrka! WAR CANSECO! 40/40 KTFO!!!

This, gentlemen, shall be a night of nights. Indeed.

How is this viewable? I will watch Japanese MMA, I just don’t know how to get it.

That's great, but how does it affect Lyoto Machida?
