A look at TUF ratings so far (with a comparison to last season)

Ep 1: 1.3 rating with 1.8 in M18-49, 2.1 in M18-34 and an ave aud of 1.8 million.
Ep 2: 1.1 rating with 1.2 in M18-49, 1.3 in M18-34 and an ave aud of 1.5 million.
Ep 3: 0.9 rating with 1.2 in M18-49, 1.13 in M18-34 and an aud of 1.2 million.
Ep 4: 1.0 rating with 1.20 in M18-49, 1.5 in M18-34 and an ave aud of 1.4 million.
Ep 5: 1.04 rating with 1.33 in M18-49, 1.59 in M18-34 and an ave aud of 1.4 million.

After five eps
Season 8: 1.14.
Season 7: 1.1
This season is averaging 1.07

Realistically, last season got a major boost was the Junie nonsense. His antics caused the fourth ep to do 1.4.

One interesting thing is that this season has had far less drama than last season. That this season is close to the numbers of last has to please those that hated Junie and the rest of the nonsense that filled many of the eps.

A 1.0 is generally considered a hit for an original basic cable show and is considered the threshold for TUF. If it's weekly average sinks below that number, I think Spilke and Zuffa would be concerned. Of course that rating is not the only thing that is important, the numbers for the Male 18-39 and male 18-34 are also very important. In those areas, the show has always delivered. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Does anybody really see any gems in this show this year? I don’t.

depends on what you consider gems.
If you are thinking strictly fighters, it’s hard to say yet.
If you’re thinking of popularity and overall goal to attract new viewers I think the show has potential to increase fans in the UK and possibly elsewhere. I think the team/country thing is working out well for them.

Show just started

Geez dude….

How often have seasons gone by where we don’t see the true quality fighters until mid season? You have the patience of a 5 year old.

well

considering that seasons 6 and 7 were possibly the worst for the ultimate fighter, in which the average of talent is down to about 2 or 3 fighters per show, and season 6’s winner Mac Danzig is on edge of being cut, Amir Sadollah of season 7 still has not fought what so ever, it just shows you that it is not as good as it is anymore. Last Season we had Bader, the guy who was supposed to win it all (and did) and Efrain (who still has not fought) in a pretty solid class. Im just saying, I am looking at all of these guys, and they are still far away from the likes of other winners. Just not impressed that is all.

Brits

have more prospects I would say. Wouldn`t be hard to see them on the undercard in the UK events.

The USA guys are more like veterans…Jason Dent probably wouldn`t do much in the UFC if he won.

From season 7 there is still Amir, Matt Brown, Dan Cramer, Riddle, Tim Creduer.
From season 8: Bader, Marshall, Nelson, Soszynski, Nover, Efrain, Roop and Kaplan.

Roop and Kaplan will likely disappear soon, but the rest still have a chance.

Are they as deep as the first couple of seasons? No, but there are still some decent fighters coming out of TUF.

Funny you mention Kaplan and not Junie.

A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.

I don’t think Junie is still with the UFC. Maybe I am wrong, but I thought he was cut.

If not, then that is 9 that are still around.

I think you got it backwards, wasn’t Kaplan cut? Junie just “thought” he was going to get cut after his recent lost, nothing official though. He looked damn good against Kaplan…hope he can keep improving because it was a fun fight.

watch for "dre"

Somebody asked about the talent up there on one of the posts and i got to say…keep your eye on that guy Andre from the UK. Dont get me wrong im pulling for the U.S. but that guy has some frikkin power, speed and good take down defense. I think it’ll be Andre and Demarcus in the finale, those two to me look to be the prominent talent of the show so probably look for them not to be matched up together in the fight..well actually…demarcus is in the 170..woops…so let me change what I said. Demarcus will probably win the welterweight, and Andre will probably win the lightweight..what do you think? and also look out for that ross guy..he’s quick
