Spike/UFC's Top 100 Fights
Spike TV will be airing a concept in July that will should be at least mildly interesting. It's going to be called "UFC's Ultimate 100", a 5-part series where they show clips from and talk about the top 100 UFC fights of all time. The fans are the ones who decide, and the polls open today on the site at Ultimate100.spike.com.
The voting process is pretty weak, but the show could end up being entertaining. My list of fights that I voted 10 (or "epic") for:
Forrest Griffin/Quinton Jackson, UFC 86
Goran Reljic/Wilson Gouveia, UFC 84
Chuck Liddell/Wanderlei Silva, UFC 79
Quinton Jackson/Dan Henderson, UFC 75
Tyson Griffin/Clay Guida, UFC 72
Scott Smith/Pete Sell, TUF 4 Finale
Diego Sanchez/Karo Parisyan, UFN 6
Sam Stout/Spencer Fisher, UFC 58
Rich Franklin/David Loiseau, UFC 58
Diego Sanchez/Nick Diaz, TUF 2 Finale
Matt Hughes/Frank Trigg 2, UFC 52
Forrest Griffin/Stephan Bonnar, TUF 1 Finale
Karo Parisyan/Nick Diaz, UFC 49
BJ Penn/Matt Hughes 1, UFC 46
Carlos Newton/Pat Miletich, UFC 31
Pedro Rizzo/Josh Barnett, UFC 30
What fights would you pick? Which fights should have made the cut? Which shouldn't have?

I can’t believe Tito/Frank Shamrock doesn’t make the list, but Junie Browning/Dave Kaplan did.

Great idea, horrible execution
Either let people vote on all UFC fights, or choose the top 100 yourself and reveal them during the specials. The fact that you can only choose from 177 fights to begin with kind of undermines the whole idea. I understand them not wanting Jimmerson/Gracie to be voted # 1, but would it be any less embarrassing if Browning/Kaplan was?

It's going to be Griffin/Bonnar at #1
The rest is prologue.

Josh Neer vs. Nate Diaz was an AMAZING fight, but it has an average of 5.5??
REALLY??

Yup, it’s all good. I like a lot of fights that other people aren’t huge fans of. Most of my favorites didn’t even make the list here. Diaz/Lawler, Maia/MacDonald, etc.

I loved that fight too, but it’s hardly top 6 ever material.

Anybody else find it predictable that the only Tito fights on there are his losses?
by The Legend on May 1, 2009 5:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Watching his head get punched by Chuck is wonderful.

See now, all this consternation and that looks pretty good for a leaderboard.

guess i can’t really brag about thinking of this idea in the ufc 100 wishlist fanpost, since it was executed so poorly. but at least theyre doing something extra to commemorate the event.

None of the Ortiz/Shamrock fights are up there, that’s odd.
