Dana White Pissed Women Off
Women's media group to UFC boss: Apologize
A national women's sports media group is calling upon UFC President Dana White to apologize for disparaging comments he recently made about a female reporter, FOXSports.com has learned.
The Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) issued a press release Wednesday calling for the Ultimate Fighting Championship to "take action in regards to misogynistic comments" that White made in a video blog posted on the promotion's Web site. AWSM President Jenni Carlson said her group's request for an apology from UFC went unanswered.

What I find interesting is that it didn't seem that White was attacking Hunt for being a female reporter but rather for attacking him and the UFC with no proof of the allegations. What do you think? Does the AWSM have reason to demand an apology or are they just trying to gain some relevance?

I don’t think anything that White said was meant to demean any person or group. What he said was regrettable because of the way the words could be construed, not their intent. I don’t like how Dana addressed Hunt, and I don’t care about what she may or may not have done to target the UFC in the past. It was all in poor taste. I suppose this is the predictable fallout.

No
I think that White was trying to defend something that he is apparently VERY passionate about. I don’t think he was trying to hurt any certain group.

White wasn’t trying to be Strom Thurmond, its just his response was unbelievably unprofessional for someone in his position.
Remember female sports writers get a lot of flak the male dominated industry so I don’t blame them for organizing.
Also remember when A-Rod took a cheap shot at Selena Roberts for her reporting and Peter Gammons let it slide, a lot of people were like ‘Whoa! Gammons stick up for the female journalist the same way you would a man’

you're missing the point
Of course he didn’t attack her because she is a woman. But that isn’t particularly important. He attacked her because his ego was threatened and he is usually incapable of refuting claims against him without looking like a five year old boy. He used very offensive language. This Loretta HUnt is probably someone’s mother, sister, wife. Hopefully this community has enough dignity to not tolerate someone being viscously and personally attacked by the president of a company that we all support. In some respect, Dana White represents us, the fans. Is that how you want to be represented?? I dont. I would like the president of hte company that I support to have some modicom of dignity and respect towards others even if he disagrees with them.

Whoa!
Dana White does not represent me in any way shape or form. Being a fan of MMA does not mean that the president of one particular MMA promotion represents me.

does President Obama represent you? How about your boss? Even if you never asked for them they still represent your interests much the same way Dana white does. Dana is responsible in some part for building the sport up to it’s current state of popularity. To the “outside” world he does represent people who work in this industry and to a lesseer extent the fans as well. Perhaps it’s not a position that you or he want but he is a de facto representative of MMA. In other words, if you talk to someone and say you like MMA that person is going to think of the public face of MMA which is Dana white. In that sense he represents people who work in the industry. That’s why he sould be scroutinized when he disgraces himslef like that .

Dana White has been successful up to this point, love him or hate him. He is not going to change the way he conducts business or the words he chooses to use. If you don’t like him or what he did, then don’t watch the UFC, stop watching MMA if you think he is the sole ambassador of the sport. It is unfair to all of a sudden get all up in arms and call for him to change his core personality.
People get WAAAAAYY to offended to easily nowadays, it almost makes me wonder how they make it though life. Where are all these people screaming about movies and songs that are made? There are worse messages floating around in that type of media than you could take away from an angry person defending allegations against his company.
How is he supposed to act? What moral compass would you like him to follow? He is supposed to act like a CEO….so how about acting like an Enron exec, or a banking exec, or any of the other fucks who have swindled away money from millions of people.
To me, Dana White is actually rather refreshing in his attitude. He’s a no shit take it leave it kind of guy. Whether or not I agree with decisions he’s made about certain fighters or not is irrelevant. He appeals to “normal” people because he seems like the type of guy who would be fun to drink a beer with. If you are truly offended by what he said, I’d hate for you to come to work with me one day. I’m sure you’d end up shooting yourself because you would not be able to cope.
You can take any word or phrase and it will be offensive to someone. You can either hold your head up high and not pay attention to it, or you can make a big hoopla about it and try to force your believe system on another individual. I doubt that everyone on this site is an angel, and has used the terms that White used and probably worse. It does not mean that you are hate mongering. If anyone here has never used any kind of offensive language or said anything that could remotely bother someone else then you are either a liar, or you are a saint and I would wonder why you are watching combat sports in the first place and not in the mountains somewhere with some monks.
Combat Sports appeal to the inner warrior in all of us, and that warrior is not a PC, happy go lucky, hold your tongue kind of monster……and I fucking love every second of it.

Women Angry with Dana? Not the one in the Pic!
This site must not be run by anyone with half a brain. Why use a picture of a killer girl like music video director Alisa Daglio and Dana White to illustrate your point. Do you guys not know who her MMA boyfriend is? Using that image is barely a step up from slander. Whoa! I feel sorry for you guys once that guy gets ahold of you. Good Luck with your fact checking in the future…if you get that far.
