Jens Pulver vs. Josh Grispi at WEC 41
Promoted from the FanPosts by Kid Nate
Michael David Smith at AOL's MMA Fanhouse is reporting that MMA legend and former WEC featherweight title contender, Jens "Lil' Evil" Pulver, will return to action this June at WEC 41, against rising star Josh "The Fluke" Grispi.
Jens Pulver will fight Josh Grispi at WEC 41 on June 7, World Extreme Cagefighting officials confirmed to me Sunday.
This bout will feature two fighters at opposite ends of their career paths, with the 35 year-old Pulver having lost his last three fights (and five out of his last six), while the 21 year-old Grispi is on an eight-fight winning streak.
Following a coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter after which Pulver (22-11-1, 1-3 WEC) was submitted by long-time rival BJ Penn at the show's finale, Lil' Evil made his decision to drop down to 145 and join the WEC's featherweight ranks at a weight class in which he was as-of-then undefeated. A submission win over Cub Swanson showed glimmers of promise for the aging legend, but a brutal decision loss to superstar Urijah Faber, followed by a stoppage loss to Leonard Garcia, and another to Faber left many wondering if serious contender status ha d simply passed Pulver by. Despite rumors that he was considering hanging up the gloves, Pulver re-emphasized his desire to compete after the second Faber loss, and with the birth of his first child and other distractions that prevented him from training to his full potential behind him, Pulver will look to regain his former glory this summer.
Josh Grispi (12-1, 2-0 WEC) is a Boston-based fighter who trains with Joe and Dan Lauzon. After making waves on the New England MMA scene with nine stoppages in ten career victories, Grispi continued his path of destruction in the WEC's featherweight ranks, submitting veteran Mark Hominick in his debut at WEC 32, and following that with an impresive TKO over the highly-touted Micah Miller in just 50 seconds at last August's WEC 35. Having now proven that "The Fluke" is perhaps one of the most inaccu rate nicknames in all of MMA, Grispi will look to add a victory over an MMA legend to his already-impressive resume, when he faces Jens Pulver on June 7th.

I’m smelling a Lauzon-esque upset.

And just like that, I find the perfect opportunity to embark on my MMA gambling career.

You mean Jens will somehow beat Grispi?

No, I mean Grispi might upset Pulver as Lauzon once did.

I don’t think that would be an upset at this point.

Yeah it would. Pulver lost to some very good competiton. Everyone writing him off for losing to Faber, who is damn good and possibly the best FW in the world, and Garcia, who throws massive leather, isn’t something to be completely down on.
Grispi will be the underdog, but his explosiveness could capitalize on Pulver. Just like Garcia did.

Grispi has to be the favorite.

Also
My understanding is Grispi only trains with Team Aggression on a part-time basis. I believe he’s with South Shore Sports Fighting first.

Thanks Luke
It was difficult to dig up detailed info on Grispi’s current training situation.

Be more fun, Chris. Go start a beef with him and report back on how dynamic his striking is on your face.

I got Lil Evil here. He’s going to do everything in his power not to have to get asked if he’s relevant anymore. Again.

I don’t like this fight for Jens. They need to give him a good easy fight for him to win. Where’s Manny Reyes Jr at?
