Note: I'm mainly talking about the WEC.
I think that after tonight's festivities, there are 2 fights in the WEC that would make perfect sense. The first:
Jose Aldo vs. Wagnney Fabiano for a FW title shot (after the Faber/ Brown rematch happens). Both of them are highly touted, dominant competitors who have cut a swath through the WEC 145 division. Both have solid wins under the WEC banner, as well (Aldo holding the win over Alexandre F. Nogueira, and 3 solid but overmatched challengers; Fabiano with the sub of Tamura, and lopsided decision win over Paixao tonight).
The second fight I think should happen is Rani Yahya vs. Joe Benavidez, for a title shot after Bowles gets his crack at Torres. Rani is a very recognizable name, and has won 2 straight in the WEC- including a submission win over former title challenger Yoshiro Maeda. Joe is an undefeated prospect, now with a solid win over a top flight competitor in Jeff Curran.
Anyone agree? Disagree? Any other fights (in any org) that make too much sense to pass up (like Monson vs. Overeem in Dream)?
