How dare he invoke the name of Potter Stewart.

"I see him beating Anderson Silva. I see him picking him apart. Him at a 131 years old...(trails off)." - Tito on Belfort at Affliction:DOR

Why is he using a defunct org’s rules to define all MMA regulations?
Especially when they’re different than most in the first place?

I say ban Bob Reilly from being an assembly man for this great 6 point ledger.

1) He uses outdated evidence to make his case for the people.

2) He is out of touch with reality.

3) His overall conception of mixed martial arts is skewed when boxing is legal and judging in those fights is related to how many times somebody gets punched.

4) He has made no legislation to make boxing illegal, given that “in no other sport is injury to an opponent a purpose and in fact every other sport safety is the first priority of rules.” Given the fact more people have died in boxing, clearly he is full of shit.

5) “It is indisputable the according to the rules themselves inflicting injury to an opponent rather than a demonstration of skill is the primary criteria of ultimate fighting.” Clearly not true, how do you explain people releasing the submission after they tap? If injury was the primary criteria everyone that lost in a submission would walk out with broken limbs, which clearly isn’t the case.

6) He is basing his claims on a ruleset from a defunct organization that only existed in America for 2(?) shows in total. They had to use revised rules when they were here, and it existed under proper sanctions. He is clearly delusional and would probably use the ruleset from Vale Tudo to prove his case if he had done enough research to find out what Vale Tudo was.

Overall this guy is exactly what is wrong with politics now-a-days, someone who is out of touch that has no bearing on reality, deciding the fate of many people through his own personal faulted bias.

Too bad people don’t get to vote on legislation, only the failures of politicians that cannot be held accountable to make choices for them. Democracy in action.

The UFC has the money.

Get to work on drowning out this douchebag’s noise.

Read the report he references

http://www.jssm.org/combat/1/18/v5combat-18.pdf It is useful to build the case that MMA is safer than boxing. He’s depending on people not following up his sources.

The confirmed deaths in organized professional fights occurred on October 20, 2007 when Sam Vasquez died in Houston, Texas from brain damage suffered in a bout on November 30, 2007…

If MMA is so brutal that fighters can be hurt from bouts occurring in the future, I might be on Reilly’s side.

Is it better to be knocked down, get a 10 count, stand back up, and to get hit meny more times, while causing alot of brain damage. Then to be knocked down, have your opponant jump on you and knock you out, while saving the person more blows to the head.
