DREAM 8: Dong Sik Yoon out, FEG Looking for Replacement to Face Murilo 'Ninja' Rua

Ph_dong_sik_yoon_mediumAccording to Nightmare of Battle, Dong Sik Yoon is injured and will not fight on Sunday's DREAM 8 card. FEG is currently looking for a replacement:

#3: Yoon Dong Sik Injured

Yoon Dong Sik is injured and will not be able to face Murilo Ninja on Sunday. Search for a new opponent for Murilo is underway.

According to Japan-MMA.com, the fight has been de-listed from the website, so it looks like Rua should have an easier time than this matchup may have given him. With such a short notice on the injury, FEG may end up scrapping the bout altogether. Of course, we have seen miraculous late additions to cards in Japan before, so it wouldn't be a surprise if FEG found a venerable opponent to face Rua.

bad break for Ninja

He can take the Donger. Wonder if they’ll pull a rabbit out of their hat.

Yeah, Yoon doesn’t present a huge problem for Rua in my mind. Rua would have had a standup advantage and he’s good enough on the ground to stop a submission attempt from Yoon. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out of the woodwork to fight Rua. A banger like Radach could present problems.

What a bummer. I was really looking forward to that fight.

If they can find him a replacement it’ll probably be a Japanese fighter. Kiyoshi Tamura or Taiei Kin would be awesome, though unlikely. Maybe there is a fighter traveling with one of the other DREAM.8 participants who would be willing to fill the spot?

Either way, I really hope DREAM can produce an opponent for Rua, no matter the caliber.

That’s normally how it works. They’ll be contacting the current fighter’s teammates who have traveled with them. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out of the woodwork to take on Rua. I’d love to see someone who can bring the leather to be honest. They have the best chance at defeating Rua in my opinion.
