Melvin Manhoef is training BJJ under Brazilian Top Team black belt Pedro Galiza, who says that Manhoef is contractually obligated to participate in the next DREAM show (which would be DREAM.9 on May 26th). Galiza also claims that Manhoef is taking his ground game seriously now and that he's becoming very hard to hold down on the mat.

I'll believe it when I see it
just like Chuck Liddell was keeping his hands up in training.

Does this mean that Mayhem vs. Manhoef, or Manhoef vs. Jacare will be for the DREAM Middle Weight belt??
Man, either of those fights would be pretty sweet, but especially Mayhem vs. Manhoef.

It might be the best set of ring entrances ever, except if Genki Sudo comes out of retirement to fight King Mo.

Wait…isn’t Manhoef fighting K-1 on 5/16?? That’s a mighty fast turn around for Manhoef…but the guy did fight Dae Won Kim a week after having his lung drained after his fight with Bonjasky.

Here's the translation as near as I can get it:
“When I heard that Melvin was looking for a BJJ professor to train him on the ground game, I was interested. I’ll be (working) with him until his next fight in DREAM, where he has a contract and must fight in the next edition,” the black belt said.

Looking back at the triangle he got caught with against Mousasi, one can only hope theres some truth to him concentrating on his ground game. When you’re caught deep in a triangle, picking up your opponent and slamming in is a poor choice. It will just get deeper. That alone proves Melvin doesn’t have even the slightest knowledge about avoiding submissions.

why do guys think that if they train BJJ that it will translate to success on the ground? Don’t get me wrong obviously if you’ve been training for quite sometime your strength on the ground would make you quite a threat but if your a devastating striker why train at a camp where you won’t be able to exploit your greatest strength? Why doesn’t he go to a strong wrestling camp where he can learn to avoid the ground game altogether and worry about learning the guard and other BJJ when he’s confident that he can dictate where the fight takes place.
