Japan-MMA to Stream DEEP/M-1 Challenge Live From Tokyo
Big news from one of the finest English-language Japanese MMA blogs on the block: Japan-MMA will stream the DEEP/M-1 Challenge 3rd Edition show live from Differ Ariake in Tokyo next Wednesday, April 29th. It's a great card loaded with some very promising young fighters as well as stars like Hidehiko Hasegawa, and one which I did not expect to be able to watch live, so M-1 and Japan-MMA deserve major dap for this.
Here's the complete 18-fight lineup - the only remaining question mark is which fighter will take Riki Fukuda's place at 84kg on Team Japan (above), but an announcement should be made within in the next few days.

fights I'm looking forward to on this one:
- All the Japan/England match-ups should be fun, but I’m most looking forward to the big boys, Yusuke Kawaguchi vs. Rob Broughton. Kawaguchi is the 2008 DEEP Megaton GP winner and Broughton is a former Cage Rage heavyweight titlist with wins over James Thompson, “Buzz” Berry, Butterbean and Neil Grove.
- Fábio “Negão” Nascimento vs.Myeon Ho Bae
“Negão” (literally, “big black guy”) looked fairly wretched in his last two fights against Rousimar “Toquinho” and Matt Lindland, but he excels against other mid-tier guys like the MARS vet Bae. This one won’t go the distance.
- I’m expecting the rest of Team USA West to fair pretty well against Korea: they’ve got the nasty undefeated ShoXC prospect Shane Del Rosario going at heavyweight and “The Arm Collector” Giva Santana at MW, who only received his first loss last year in a very close fight with Jaime Jara.
- Don’t know many of the fighters on Teams France or Spain, but 6’2" LHW Christian M’Pumbu has looked very impressive in his last two fights for M-1.
- Karl “Psycho” Amoussou vs. Kazuhiro Hamanaka
Just check out the Psycho’s HL reel and you’ll be stoked for this one. He just signed a management contract with M-1 and dude is going places. IFL vet Hamanaka doesn’t have a great record but he always comes to scrap.
good write up. Team USA West is pretty loaded with the Team Oyama fighters.

Yeah, it’s interesting – USA has Team Oyama fighters, England has mostly Northern Cartel guys, but Japan is all over the place (SK Ab., U-File, Blue Dog, etc.) so the guy who takes Fukuda’s place is kind of a wild card.

I’m really interested in M’Pumbu and Amoussou.

Thanks for covering the international MMA beat, Nelson. So many other sites have token reposts of Japanese news stories without really ever explaining why anyone should be interested. But you do a good job with providing analysis and context.

NIGHT CREW!

I want ALL The M-1 shows. I want them streamed live, if possible. If not, Youtoobed.
But I want them all!
