Overeem Now On Horse Meat Diet
You've come a long way in past two years. What have you changed?
I changed my diet, I changed my coach and when I really think about it – I changed everything. From my girlfriend to my training and diet. Before I ate a lot of vegetables that are healthy but contained little energy. Now I mainly eat a horse meat, rice and protein shakes. I got rid of my old coach who was in charge of my fight strategies. It simply wasn't working. I just started to think about what I had to do to become a better fighter.

I’m already afraid of the possible comments from this one (eg. what part of the horse is he eating).
Hopefully he doesn’t encounter any problems with this diet before his next U.S. appearance (Strikeforce).

Is "horse meat" the code phrase for
Steroids and HGH?

This will make a convenient excuse if he tests dirty
“I was eating horse meat, how could I have known there were steroids in it!” lol

Horse meat is very common in Europe so don’t get your panties in a knot about it.

It freaked me out a bit when I was at a pretty nice pub in Italy and noticed they had a horse meat pizza. I double-took and questioned my translation skills and then found out horse meat is pretty common. I didn’t try it though.

I do not blame you for not trying it.
I have eaten some strange dishes, but I do not think that I would try horse unless there was nothing else around to eat.

Meat is meat
Horse, cow, pig, deer. What’s the difference? Other than taste, obviously.

Fat content, sodium levels, different vitamins and minerals, etc.
That’s like saying “Vegetables are Vegetable- how are any of them different?”

For some reason the cynic in me
does think that if someone wanted to, they may be able to use the “eating horse” as a possible reason for failing a test. This story is about Overeem, but I am not specifically speaking about him.

Regardless...
He should still be eating vegetables. Only eating Rice, Meat, and Protein Shakes will lead to malnutrition. Even if he’s taking a bunch of multi vitamins. The human body needs vitamins and minerals in vegetables, and supplements aren’t a healthy way of intaking them.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if he ate a massive amount of complex carbs and protein in a day, big muscles need lots of fuel. He probably eats several hundred grams of protein in a day.
