This is great stuff...
Howard Davis Jr. is a really great boxing mind. I’m also glad he touched on the “knockout memory” thing because that is totally a legit thing that doesn’t get talked about much.

Awesome on so many levels.
I guess I never really thought about Chuck moving down in weight. Davis seems to think he can do it and that it would benefit him. I also like how he didn’t say that it was Chuck being too old or too slow but that he still made more than one mistake that they had worked on every day for eight weeks.
I don’t want to see Chuck on the canvas again but maybe another few months with Davis and a weight cut would be worth a shot. Hmmmm…..excited to see how this unfolds.
I just don’t see Chuck being able to make 185 at his age and with his frame. Maybe he could split the difference and meet Wand at the new weight class Wand wants to create, but I guess it’s a moot point since Chuck’s all but officially retired.

True that.
It sucks to hear that he got caught because of a dumb mistake again though. Just keep your hands up damn it! Don’t step forward when you throw the right! Damn!
Don’t step forward when you throw the right
Really? That’s where the power comes from. If he doesn’t step into it, it becomes a pitty-pat punch.

great interview
thanks Chris!

I’m always curious how high up the food chain the boxing coaches are in MMA. I guess a gold medalist is a pretty damn elite. I like how he explains that 8 weeks will not keep you from reverting to your comfy bad habits in the fight. I would have liked to hear his opinion on Chuck’s punch & counterpunch speed.
I like Goldberg's comments during the fight...... "Chuck has been working on keeping that left hand up..."
All the while, he had it below chest level. sigh
