Was Tom Vaughn right?
With his trust for fighters diminished, Vaughn has become defensive of his gym and his methods. "Nobody has ever left my gym and done better somewhere else," he said. "If he does, he'll be the first guy."
Obviously Condit did not do better as he lost after an 8 fight win streak. I personally think that Condit did really well against a really high level of competition in Kampman. I also feel like he handled the pressure of his first fight in the UFC like a true professional. I think everyone agrees that the decision could have gone either way. It may be too early to tell but I was wondering what the BE community thought. Was Condit's move to ACS a good one?

Listen, the guys at combat sports get paid a monthly stipends from the main sponsor and are one of the few (only?) gyms to give them this kind of monthly income. Plus, he has great guys to train with. It was a no brainer.
You can’t base last night on anything because honestly, he was good enough last night to win. It was a close decision and both fighters brought it last night.

That’s interesting. Who is that “main sponsor”? I agree with you regarding the fight last night.

I think its MX-audio or something. But I know those guys receive a monthly income allowing them to train full time.

Not MX-Audio
There is a sports marketing firm that represents all the ACS fighters in the UFC and WEC that pays them a monthly “allowance” but MX-Audio pretty much sponsors every pro fighter at ACS… at least for the exception of Carlos Condit at this point… I’m sure that will change.
This guy just has sour grapes and the move to ACS was a great move for Carlos Condit. He will benefit a lot more from training there because the competition in the UFC is going to be head and shoulders above what Condit was facing in the WEC. You have to grow as you progress in the sport… Condit realizes that… this Vaughan guy doesn’t. He’s pissed that his cash cow has left the farm.

I guess theres no accounting for Loyalty these days...
I’m sure Condit could’ve supplemented his training without completely abandoning someone who has been there for him for such a long time… but Once you go big time, its a big fuck you to those who may have helped you get there. lol.

Just how it goes...
The competition level for Condit is increasing now that he is in the UFC. ACS can provide him with better sparring partners and more knowledgeable coaches. Can’t fault the guy for wanting to make sure that he is ready for the big time by training with the best. You won’t get better being the big fish in a little pond forever.

I might be depending on how Condit does in his second fight, the fact of the matter is that i’ve been watching Condit for years and that is the first time I have seen him fight defensivelly. He was picking apart Kampman on his feet and won the first 2 rounds but then in the final round he chooses to fight from his back instead of attacking like he usually does.
I was very leary about him going to ACS and I hope that this was just a mental mistake by Condit but if this style becomes a trend than Vaugh will be proven right. Condit is at his best when he is his usual aggressive and dominating self which he was for the first 2 rounds that third round still has me scratching my head because he gave the judges an excuse to screw him over.
