Notable Quotes From UFN 18 Post-Fight Interviews
Promoted from the FanPosts by Kid Nate.
From the post-fight interviews on UFC.com.
Martin Kampmann's happy but slightly worried about his eye:
I've got a couple of bumps, he got me with some good elbows on the top of the head. My lip's all busted up, obviously I've got the cut, but I am more concerned, actually, over here he got me with a finger in the eye. I think he got me with the nail. After that, my eye, my sight was blurry. The doctor said there's a little scratch on the eye but it'll heal.
Carlos Condit thought he won but blames himself:
It was a tough fight. Kampmann did good stuff, he did well. I felt like I won the first and second rounds, second was pretty close but then I left it to a judges' decision and that's always risky. You know in this game, I know as anyone else, that the guy who stays on top gets the nod. If that would have been me on top, I possibly would have finished or probably have gotten the judge's nod. Hats off to Martin, he did a helluva job.
Ryan Bader was not impressed with his performance:
I thought I fought like crap but I got the win against a tough opponent. I felt like I could have been a little tighter on my feet, transitioned a little better. I had him in positions I really should have finished.
Tyson Griffin is a-ok:
As far as serious injuries, it's fine, there was no popping in there or nothing crazy like that. I've been put in a knee splicer or whatever you wanna call it before so it crushed the calf and the quad got stretched a bit. After a few seconds of being on the feet it was alright again.
Cole Miller explains bad blood with Junie:
This started before the interviews on the internet. Months ago he was a special guest at a fight show in Atlanta and when they announced him, he said I was going to be an easy fight and walk-through for him.
Junie Browning thinks he's cut from the UFC:
Sucks to lose but it happens. With as many lightweights as there are in the UFC, that was probably my last fight. I'd like to keep fighting but it's pretty hard to stay in the UFC now, especially in the lightweight division. You get one loss and you're worried about being cut.
Ricardo Almeida wants to drop to 170 lbs.:
I would like to let it be known, on the UFC website, that I plan to drop to 170 lbs. My team has been saying I am too small to be fighting these big guys at 185 lbs. You know I'm really considering it, I just have to talk with Joe, Dana and the UFC to see if I have their blessing, but I plan to drop to 170.
Brock Larson feels at home:
The pressure was all on Jesse (Sanders) I think. I mean to me it was a lot like fighting in the WEC. Everything was pretty much the same.
Tim Credeur will fight the devil:
I think I'm still a journeyman. They've got a lot of tough, tough fighters in the UFC, especially in the middleweight division. I'll fight whoever the UFC wants me to fight. If they put the devil in front of me, I'll be willing to fight him.

almeida in 170 would be great.. I’d like to see how mclovin fares against him.. alemeida would probably out muscle dustin’s sub attempts but it would be a great fight none the less..

I think Spike TV wants Junie for one more fight. He has too much name value for the UFC to hand him over to someone else before he obtains a 2 fight losing streak.

Junie has no heart
He is too quick to quit and get down on himself…. it just shows that all the confidence he tries to show is completely false and he shouldn’t be taken seriously. I think Cole Miller took the trash talk a lil bit too seriously but if he needed the inch of “disrespect” to take him the mile in the performance he had… more power to him. I think the whole whipping out the brown belt after the fight was a lil bit over the line.
Junie needs to get out of the UFC for a while and gain some more experience, he’s not strong enough mentally to handle the big time right now.

I agree with both of you.
He is a commodity due to his TUF image, but as far as a career goes, he needs to fight below the UFC level for a bit.
If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.

Spike TV wants him? I dont think they have a say in it. I think Dana does and Dana loves him for who knows what reason. He’ll be back for one more you can gaurantee that. I’d like to see Efrain beat his ass again or maybe Nover can demolish him.

I bet if he gets another fight… it’ll be against either Dos Anjos or maybe Mark Bocek.

Dos Anjos has more heart and a bigger gas tank than Junie.

Ohhhh… I agree with you…. Dos Anjos crushes Junie, I personally think Dos Anjos is better than Cole Miller but since Dos Anjos has lost two in a row….. he’d get the Junie fight to save his place in the UFC.
Junie needs to back to Kentucky and rock the AFL for a while…. if they actually ever put on a show.

I think the WEC would be a good fit for him.

I agree that Dana loves him but I think Spike TV does too and Dana happens to cooperate with them from time to time. Who wanted him on the main card more – Spike or Dana? Dana might have kept him without the Spike angle, but I’m not sure.
I agree he’s not ready for the UFC. But it’s not like life in the minors is easy. I’m not sure the UFC would let him go, especially without holding a grudge. Maybe they’ll find him a couple of easy prelim fights that’ll serve the same purpose. I suppose the recommendation of the folks at Xtreme Couture will play a role, but I suspect the UFC will feel compelled to send him to the minors if he loses 1 more.

Brock Larson is a beast. I think he wil see the most success of any of the WEC transfers. He’s strong enough to compete in the 170 division where as Condit was getting outmuscled by Kampmann big time last night. Condit is just not powerful enough to handle the wrestling in the UFC’s 170 division. But..Larson is.

Agree
Hell, I’d love to see Larson vs. Kampmann next

Satan has 4 arms....
therefore the “Real” Red Devil gets him via D’Arce choke and a kimura…..then makes Credur’s head explode.
Thats what happens when the devil trains w/ Emelianenko’s. No mercy.

If bader seriously hurt his knee like the reports are saying he shouldnt be down on himself. I thought he looked amazing in the first round. Taking down a decent wrestler in marrero with ease and passing his guard like it was nothing. The armbar attempt was suprising and it showed he has some versatility.

![Brock Larson reflects on his upset loss to Mike Pierce in an interview with MMA Junkie:
"I don't think the judges made the wrong call. They had to award him the win because the only thing that went on in the whole fight was takedowns, and he got them. I clearly lost the fight. Hats off to Pierce, but he has some issues to work on himself."
In the locker room after the fight, UFC matchmaker Joe Silva told Larson's manager, Monte Cox, "Don't worry about Brock. He's a fighter. We don't know what we're going to do with this other [expletive]. I don't know if I can watch another 15 minutes of that [expletive].".
"That was good to hear coming off a loss," Larson said. "In a weird way, that loss helps me, and it would have helped Pierce if he tried to be aggressive. Win, lose or draw, at least he's competing. People won't want to watch that stuff.
"I've always taken pride in going after and trying to finish my fights, and I get the upper hand always going after it and being aggressive. Pierce didn't have that attitude. He just wanted to eke out the win and get the [win].
"The W is important, but at the same time it's the entertainment business. People pay to watch, and they don't want to watch two guys hug belly buttons. Clay Guida, he makes more money on friggin' 'Fight of the Night' bonuses than he does on his fight wins."
"People look at film and say, 'This guy beat Brock? That's all he had to do,'" Larson said. "I have to get the Band-Aids out, cover that owie and not have to worry about that being a problem."](http://cdn1.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/84043/md97y25v01_small.jpg)
