Yoshihiro Akiyama departed from Tokyo's Narita Airport today for a month-plus trip, during which he plans to train with (among others) Lyoto Machida in preparation for his upcoming bout with Wanderlei Silva. Upon returning to Japan, Akiyama told reporters that he hopes to train with fellow judoka Hidehiko Yoshida, who twice faced Silva in Pride FC, battling "The Axe Murderer" for a total of 35 minutes.

Cage Force Featherweight Champion Yuji Hoshino (16-7-7) will make his Sengoku debut on November 7th against Featherweight King of Pancrase Marlon Sandro (14-1). Hoshino holds a record of 8-0-3 since 2004; however, he hasn't fought since his unanimous decision win over "Wicky" Akiyo Nishiura last December. Sandro is coming off the first loss of his career to Michihiro Omigawa in the Sengoku FWGP semifinals, a match which most felt Sandro won.

This Sunday's (9/6) episode of Sengoku-G!, thanks to mmahide.

The first part is an interview with Kazunori Yokota, looking back at his fights in Sengoku so far and ahead to his Sengoku X bout with Ryan Schultz. From the graphic at the end (9:15), it looks like Yokota will need to go through Eiji Mitsuoka after Schultz to get a crack at new champion Mizuto Hirota. I remember Daniel Herbertson mentioning back in June that then-champ Satoru Kitaoka cracked up when Yokota challenged the winner of Kitaoka-Hirota at a press conference.

Part 2 has an interview with Lightweight King of Pancrase Maximo Blanco (can't understand a word he's saying, but clearly a goofball) and a look at the Japanese "Sengoku Gold Cup" winners, who face their Korean counterparts at Sengoku X. In order, they're Ryosuke Komori (bantamweight), Shigeki Osawa (featherweight) and Ikuo Usuda (lightweight).

Check out Komori getting murdered by Michihiro Omigawa while sparring at Yoshida Dojo (5:20).

Kazuo Misaki (left, with Sengoku representative Takahiro Kokuho) publicly apologized today for a March incident in which he struck and sped away from a Tokyo police officer who attempted to cite him for talking on his cell phone while driving. The "Grabaka Hitman" was found guilty on Thursday and sentenced to three years probation plus community service. Kokuho commented that no decision had been made of yet on Misaki's status for his August 2nd title eliminator bout against Kaz Nakamura, but said that Misaki training hard and putting on a good fight would help mend his relationship with the public.
