Hypothetically speaking, there are some pretty interesting fights there if you go by some general rankings.  I'd pay good money to see Kampmann/Hazelett and Davis/Koscheck.  If this started today, who ya got?  Any upsets?  Let me know...

Second.

GSP beats all of them by “ride you out and rabbit punch you until they stop the fight”.

Cant wait for GSP-Alves at UFC 100. I really, really hope Alves makes weight b/c I dont want to taint that match at all. If I remember correctly (someone correct me if Im wrong), he didnt make weight vs. Hughes. I agree on Davis-Kos, great match. I think Swick-Hardy would be an entertaining bout with neither guy backing down and someone ( I would think Hardy) getting KO’d.
I would love to see Swick-Alves in the 2nd round.

Another idea is having an 8 man, #1 contender WW tournament and having the winner face GSP for the title. (This idea may be better for MW division, where there isnt a consensus #1 contender)

A problem I recognize with this is when/if Anderson Silva or GSP dominates the winner of the #1 contender tourney then there REALLY will be no more interesting matchups for them at their respective weights*****

Bracketed tournaments like this is one thing I would like to see the UFC do. They can be used to either to crown a champ or determine a #1 contender.
Im not sure if it was planned, but the de facto 4 man HW tournament seems like it just happened by accident

If you are doing this Anthony Johnson has to be involved

You can’t put in Larson without putting in Condit.

You're right

Yeah, I should have included Rumble and Condit…oversights

by ericmunley on Apr 17, 2009 4:42 PM EDT up reply actions

I’ll take Rumble as a darkhorse in this tourney. I think he can surprise some people

First round bye....

I would say GSP earns a first round bye, being champ and all. Maybe you can put Condit in that sweet little bracket of yours.

by mmalegend on Apr 17, 2009 6:45 PM EDT reply actions

I would take out
Tavares
Larson
Blackburn

enter
Condit
Johnson
Stun Gun

Matt Serra would not be a number 5, Matt Hughes would not be a number 4.

Epic failure without Johnson.
