Quote of the Day: Jeff Monson
"I'm the guy to beat Fedor. He's a great fighter, without doubt, he's one of the best in the world, but a fight is a fight and I think that I would have a good fight against him," affirmed Jeff, who is in contact with Affliction.

I would love for the guy to top Fedor to be Jeff Monson, partially so I could see this on the next heavyweight edition of Fightlines:
Fedor>Sylvia>Monson>Fedor
…FML

Crazier things have happened
Also, ‘WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Jeff Monson’ would make me smile AND give Tim Sylvia hope that he can be on top again. Win-win.

Nobody believes he has any chance besides if he’s somehow able to lay and pray a decision. Even that can’t happen. This fight sucks, the guy really lost to Nelson and got a gift decision, and now he’s going to fight Emelianenko.
There’s no good reason to not do Fedor-Overeem or Fedor-Barnett. Here we have the greatest fighter of all time in his peak fighting gimme fights when legitimate opponents are abundant. All this while we see him fight twice a year, it’s ridiculous.
And because childish people always have to make it about a UFC comparison, yes Sylvia vs. Monson was a terrible title fight too.
He couldn’t even lay and pray to a decision. It’s next to impossible against Fedor. He’s deceptively quick to buck opponents and transition on them after the buck. He somewhat did that against Randleman, and Randleman even stated in the PRIDE: Decade documentary about how he let up slightly to try to make a move and Fedor immediately recognized, transitioned, and subsequently submitted him.
I want Barnett vs. Fedor, but I think Fedor kills him. I just think Barnett will be overwhelmed. Overeem is interesting though.

Yeah, I no longer think the fight with Barnett is really all that competitive.

me neither. I don’t really see anyone ouside the UFC that even makes an interesting fight for Fedor at this point. He already beat them all. Barnett-Arlovski might be interesting. I guess Fedor-Barnett is the best we could really hope for.

Overeem is interesting?
Nobody thinks that Overeem will be submitted easily?
I do. I think Fedor takes Overeem down and submits him with ease. Monson is actually more of a challenge than Alastair.
I’ve come to terms that Fedor is never going to fight the fights I want him to fight.

For shame, Fedor!

He should be fighting the highest ranking HW’s that he can.

Good lord...
that was a quick to jump on the UFC when I don’t see him mentioning them. It’s simply that he should be fighting Barnett…

I really thought I was the only one that noticed that.

I don’t have your abilities Subo do include Carwin’s name everytime Fedor is mentioned. I bow down to you on that one. =)

It’s a little inside joke with Subo, since he mentions the UFC (and Carwin when Fedor is mentioned) everytime I write something that has nothing to do with the UFC.

?
Inside joke = both people are in on it.

SO
should somebody tell him that he really got beat if not dominated by Roy Nelson, how the HELL is he going to beat Fedor?
Monson has been wanting this fight for a long time now, heck wasn’t the reason he left the UFC to start with because he wanted to fight Fedor on the Bodog card?
And losing to Roy Nelson...
(even if you got a gift decision) is the best way to earn it

No
Beating Kharitonov is, or has everyone in BE forgotten that?
He has beaten Fujita and Sergei in Japanese soil, so this fight makes sense if they can’t make Barnett fight Fedor.

I'm just saying...
yeah, he beat Kharitonov (who isn’t exactly the same guy he used to be…but he did dominate…I won’t hate on him for that) but the Nelson fight was pretty damn recent.
I’m fine with the fight honestly if Barnett can’t happen. An Arlovski rematch doesn’t work right now…so it’s not a bad fight. I’m just poking fun at him losing a passionless fight with Nelson

That fight against Tim Sylvia was awful. I was having some friends watch that PPV to get on the MMA bandwagon and nearly lost them.
Monson is one of the most active fighters though, I’ll give him that.
Don’t you just hate that? I was trying to convert some boxing fan friends into MMA fans on the GSP/Penn 2 PPV. Needless to say Guida and Diaz didn’t start the night of well for me. >:(
Then, when you get these crazy awesome action-packed fights, theres nobody watchin with you. Arghh!!!!

What better way to pay your legal fees?
The court costs and lawyer fees have to been piling up. Nothing is gonna pay more than a fight against Fedor on an Affliction card. Smart move on Monson’s part.
