Dana White thinks Ricardo Arona Sucks

Aronaricardo1tc8_medium

According to tatame.com, Arona has mentioned before that he has been hearing that the reason the UFC didn't want to sign him was because they're afraid that he'd beat everybody.

Dana white responed by saying:

"I don’t think I have been worried about Arona beating everybody. Didn’t Arona just lose? I think Arona just lost recently. There’s no reason I have been like: "Oh God Arona could beat everybody" …You know, if I thought Arona was gonna beat everybody he would be here right now"

Dana was also asked who he wanted to face in an MMA match. He replied:

I’d fight Arona first because I think he sucks! (Laughs). That’s a tough question. I’m not going to answer that one".

The entire interview will be featured on the April issue of tatame magazine.

Meh

That’s a little misleading. He was clearly joking the second time around.

I poop rainbows.

yeah he was obviously joking when he said that he sucks..

but he also meant that if he thought he could beat the guys at 205 he’d sign him.. But alas, still no real effort at signing him. Arona has been out for a long time, but I think (and maybe dana does too) that he needs to get a couple more wins to shake off some rust and head to the UFC coming from a win..

I think that White's stance is why would I overpay (because you know his pricetag will be high)

for a guy that has been out of fighting for two years when he has not done anything to build up interest? That is a far cry from really meaning that he thinks Arona sucks IMO. If Arona strings together a few wins against some decent competition then I am sure the UFC would look into signing him.

Dana is right

Arona leads with his chin. I never thought he was as good as was hyped in Pride.

Great grappler and I love watching him fight, but yeah, I think he’s a better fit for the Japanese circuit or Strikeforce/Affliction.

Didn’t Arona just lose? I think Arona just lost recently.

Yes, two years ago.

He probably doesn’t even know who he is.

The problem is that Dana’s “recently” is like a 5 year span. Just like the Fedor comments. He hasn’t beaten anyone good recently. Well, Sylvia and Arlovski were still ranked at the times he beat them, so technically, that would mean “good”

He now says something like “besides AA and Sylvia, he hasn’t beaten anyone good recently”.

"recently"

True, but it was his most recent fight, so it was recent on his schedule and he hasn’t done anything in the past two years to erase the memory.

lol, I am sure that is exactly why White does not want to sign him or Lindland!

My guess is that Dana doesn’t want to overpay another Pride star since most of them haven’t worked out so far

I would love to see Arona under Unified Rules.

Arona, in the cage, with his elbows.
