Coleman-Bonnar On Prelim Card For UFC 100
A previously rumored light-heavyweight bout between Stephan Bonnar and Mark Coleman was recently confirmed by the UFC for UFC 100 on July 11, and the current bout order for the event has this fight on the prelim card.
Despite the presence of two championship fights on the main card, it's still expected that the UFC will add a 5th bout to the televised card as usual. Two fights still not officially announced by the UFC include a lightweight tilt between Mac Danzig and Jim Miller, and a welterweight clash featuring Paulo Thiago and Jon Fitch.
Given that Miller and Danzig are both coming off losses, while Thiago and Fitch were both successful in their last fights, it seems pretty clear that the welterweights will end up filling the 5th spot on the main card.

I just don’t understand the Bonnar/Coleman fight. What will this prove?

this fight has no meaning when it comes to the title but it features two very important fighters to the ufc. Coleman was the first or second heavyweight champion, and bonnar was involved in the most important fight in ufc history. Both are coming off disappointing losses and i think fight will prove which guy actually belongs in the ufc. I doubt the ufc will cut either of these fighters but a lose for either guy is a career crusher. Colman is old and hasnt won a fight in years and in my opinion should retire but he is a ufc hall of famer and i dont see him getting cut. Bonnar has had an up and down ufc career and is coming in off a lose but i dont see him being cut because of his first fight with griffin and also he is always in exciting fights

maybe the winner would fight the winner of chuck/shogun..
then the winner gets a title shot… then people will hate on the UFC even more.. ;)

What this fight means
Bonnar gets a chance to make himself a star by beating Coleman (hopefully more convincingly than Shogun). Coleman gets a paycheck, and if he wins, he’ll get another paycheck fighting an up-and-comer who wants to make his bones by beating a legend. There are no losers.

Coleman was the first heavyweight champ. He beat Dan Severn at UFC 12 for the title.

You can’t have talk about Mark Coleman without this:

If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.

And to his defense, Coleman is a tough fighter who doesn’t get ko’d easily, so it could be somewhat of a battle.

I think he’ll get taken down and submitted.
