Chuck Liddell can he do it one more time?

Can Chuck Liddell come back from going 1-3 in his last 4. Having even some of his fans contenplate that he might retire. Can he come back and claim UFC gold again?Chi

Star-divide

Chuck Liddell has been the face of MMA for the last decade and probably longer than that. His reign as Champion will be remebered for a long time and his legend is secure. For a long time people thought Chuck invincible. Rampage Jackson put a  stop to that. Beating Chuck in the second I THINK it might've been the first.

So then he goes and fights Kieth Jardine and loses a decsion. When I watched that fight I honestly didn't know who I was watching fight. Then the UFC sets up a fight that should have happened a few years ago with Liddell and Silva. Liddell only not with a KO or a ref stopping the fight, he wins with a decsion. Rashad Evans his put in his way and everyone with a computer and a YouTube account seen what happened there.

So does Chuck have enough left in him to climb the UFC mountian one more time, I'd have to say that yes he does, He's 39 yes but remember Couture So I'd say he's got another 4 to 5 good years left in him. If he went and train like he said that he did he'll be a monster. Now did all the partying take a toll on him yes, but I've seen more than one athlete come back from a lot worse than that and win titels. With a couple of good wins starting with Shougun he'll be right back in the title picture. hopefully he got over the losses and can now focuses on destroying the LHW division once again.

Maybe I'm biased because The Iceman is the guy that brought me back to MMA as a fan I just don't want to admit it might be over however,  I still truly belive that Liddell will hold gold in the UFC one more time before he retires.

I really think this fight is more about Shogun than it is about Chuck. Jardine’s a very underrated LHW, Chuck took Wanderlei’s best and gave better back and Rashad has dynamite in his hands, apparently.

I look at the rush to bury Chuck (and Shogun, for that matter( the same way I look at the rush to bury Nog and Couture – an effort to discredit the people who beat them decisively (Forrest, Rashad, Mir and Lesnar – all big time Zuffa stars, oddly enough). I can’t judge how done a fighter is by one fight any more than I can judge how awesome they are by one fight – people have freakish nights, good and bad.

I don’t think Shogun is ‘done’, either – just that he was overrated in PRIDE (imagine that) and the rules against stomps and soccer kicks hurt his game more than anyone expected. I think Chuck wins this fight in the second round.

Jackson won by TKO @ 1:53 of the 1st. I think he should train with couture a little.

I picked Chuck to win the fight against Shogun, but I don’t see either of them “reaching the top of the mountain” so to speak. Chuck’s age and the evolution of the “dominant” mold of MMA fighter are working against him too much to really recover.

If he pulls it off though, I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong.

What if Chuck does pull out the win? What does he do next? People will proabbly discredit the win if Shogun shows up sloppy again. Will he retire with a win and ride off into the sunset? Will he call out Anderson Silva again? Will he continue to pursue the LHW stap? Will he continue to try to avenge some his losses (Jardine)? Who knows…personally I think he should forget about getting his belt back and continue seeking out fighters with big names that he has an actual chance of beating. Lesnar vs. Lidelll enyone?

This comment is insane.

Lesnar vs. Lidell? The weight difference would be of Cyborg-ian proportion.

If Chuck wins, I predict he goes against Forrest and the winner gets a shot at the winner of Rashad vs. Rampage.

Where is Machida in all of this

Quietly giggling to himself about how nobody realizes how badly he’s going to school all of these guys.

Machida vs. Chuck would make many grown men cry.

Yeah – especially in a year or so, when Chuck’s older and Machida is closer to sprouting his wings.

Dude Machida’s wings consume any and all MMA fighters wings when they where at there prime and open.

In short. Liddell will never be UFC LHW champ again IMO.

Dana White will do everything he can to prove you wrong. I have it on good authority that even if Chuck loses to Shogun, he will still get a title shot. And he gets rematches until he wins. And even if he doesn’t win, he gets the belt.

Your ‘good authority’ is full of shit

Chucks a spartan and a champion. Hell come into this fight looking as good as he he can for his age. Will it be enough to stop rua, i think so. With that being said, Dana loves chuck and will do everything in his power to give chuck a title shot again.

If he beats Rua hell probably be matched up against forrest. If he can pull that out its a title shot. Chuck is the living embodiment of “a punchers chance”.
