Kohiruimaki out, Yamamoto in at K-1 World MAX Final 16
K-1 World MAX 2009 Japan GP champ Taishin Kohiruimaki has been forced off next week's Final 16 card due to an injury sustained to the ligaments in his right ankle, K-1 Event Producer Osamu announced today. Replacing him will be the Japan tournament's runner-up, Yuya Yamamoto (right), who will face off against K-1 World MAX 2009 Asia GP winner Chi Bin Lim.
Yamamoto had been scheduled for the evening's reserve bout against Asian runner-up Su Hwan Lee; Lee will now face the 2008 Japanese champion Yasuhiro Kido.
Obviously a major disappointment for FEG and Kohiruimaki, but this should still be a fantastic tournament. Here's the updated card:

Tough loss for the card, but good replacement.

Should still be an excellent card.
Can’t wait.

Su Hwan Lee is awesome. He was knocking out everyone until the Final fight. Wish he were in the Final 16, but a reserve bout is cool too.

If I am remebering right, Yamamoto is the luckiest son of a bitch on earth.
He loses the first fight in a huge upset, but that guy got cut too bad and so Yamamoto ends up advancing to the semi which he won. Loses the final pretty badly.
Now the winner is out so he advances.
Dude should buy a lotto ticket.

Great news. Now there is 100% chance of zero Kohi-lameness on this show. :)

If there are no big MMA names fighting on Kickboxing shows.....
I can do without hearing about them. Just my opinion.

i’ll say this for k-1max, the grand prix has NEVER disappointed me for a night of fights. Period. The most boring K-1Max (even for other regions like Korea, Japan etc) is still veeeerrry entertaining from a fight fan/combat sport observer perspective.
