I don’t understand why the ratings were so low. Maybe it wasn’t promoted like it should have been.

To a casual fan, only the main event was interesting and McCullough vs. Hicks probably didn’t help. =)

Even the main event wouldn’t have been that interesting. It was an extremely uninteresting card, all things considered.

The only WEC card with great numbers was WEC 34, with Faber coming in as a dominant champ and Pulver coming off of the BJ loss and the exposure from TUF. The UFC promoted that event fairly well. Everything else is the typical WEC numbers we would expect from Versus.

Is anyone privy to information regarding WEC’s contract with Versus? Their self promotion could undoubtedly be improved (all MMA has yet to really market effectively, but I digress), but I do place plenty of the blame on Versus’ limited appeal. I think that MMA has a very high capacity to engage channel surfers, particularly the ever valuable males 18-35. Who among us even navigates their cable guide to Versus with any regularity? I never do, and I’m a huge NHL fan. I think that’s very telling.

yea i would say the low ratings is due to it being on VS…..its a crappy, crappy channel…in my area u have to pay an extra $6 a month cuz its included in some sports pack that has the nfl channel and a few other shitty channels too…hell i didnt even know i had vs. till i heard about my first wec event and i checked my guide and wow i had the channel…but seriously no one even has heard of this channel…they need more mainstream support..i would suggest going to HBO…no matter what they offer its still gotta be more than what vs. gives zuffa and even being on a premium channel it would still probably get better ratings

Let's blame Versus
Let’s forget the obvious:
1) Lack of cross promotion with UFC programming
2) Sunday night time slot
3) Has been used to counter other programs instead of focus on their own program
4) Small guys cannot sell a promotion alone.
