Ricardo Arona Signing With Affliction Before ADCC?

40_l_medium

From TATAME:

You were going to fight the ADCC, but it was postponed to September. You said you would sign fot a MMA fight before... Is it right?

I received proposals, as I said, of Affliction, Dream and other events, but I just know that the ADCC was postponed to September and this moved a lot with my plans, it wasn’t what I wanted, no way. I don’t want to wait until September to fight, I will renegotiate before that to see if I fight the best proposal.

United States or Japan?

Man, actually a fighter has to go always in the best proposal, but today, I think is better for me to try America, United States.

UFC already spoke with you?

No, that’s what I said. Ultimate didn’t contacted me. I had contacts from Affliction, Dream, but had no position of the Ultimate.

Arona could sign with Affliction before their highly anticipated 3rd show set to feature Fedor, Josh Barnett, and rumored bouts between Sylvia vs Buentello and Chris Horedecki, Din Thomas, Gegard Mousasi, and Vitor Belfort as rumored participants.

With the addition of Ricardo Arona, the Affliction LHW lineup could look something like this:

Gegard Mousasi
Renato “Babalu” Sobral
Vitor Belfort (MW*)
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Vladimir Matyushenko
Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
Tito Ortiz
Ricardo Arona

*Open to fighting at MW and above

No sir..

Tito isn’t signing with Affliction.

by poundnground on Mar 26, 2009 3:54 PM EDT reply actions

Affliction, UFC, or Strikeforce.
He has to choose ONE of those.

But he just said he wasn’t going to sign with them. Either UFC or SF for him IMO.

Since when do we start trusting Tito statements?
:)

Bout the same time we trust your rumors.

So just a few months ago?

I trust you to sniff out anything even remotely positive spin worthy on non-Zuffa promotions and then go do the research myself. Your rumors and wishes, not at all.

And on a side note

I’m glad UFC didn’t contact Arona. I have a personal dislike for the guy, back when i trained at BTT he would charge $80.00 per person (in his "team") just to attend and hear him talk.. not to mention he would cut the shit 20 mins early most of the time. I’m glad I never went back.

BTW, Tito said in his last interview that he wasn’t going to sign with Affliction. So maybe Strikeforce? I hope! I wanna see him and Babalu finally go at it.

He could fight Babalu with either org, whichever org he signs with (except UFC), we will most likely see Tito vs Babalu.

He’s been out of action for so long…it’s hard to determine what he’s ‘worth’ so to speak. I suppose the UFC will use these other org’s to help them determine that…then possibly sign him later…

How about Arona/Fedor 2 on 7-11 for free?

If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.

I’d order a Big Gulp in order to watch that in the parking lot.

That’s actually a fairly impressive list of names.

It really is, and the LHW class is supposed to be weak outside of the UFC.
Add Feijao from Strikeforce and King Mo from WVR, and the non-UFC LHW class is looking pretty good.

Add salt and pepper

….and Don Frye from 1998. What do you call this recipe?
