More Frank Shamrock: Ken Shamrock Is "The Wrestler"

Wjfk_logo_medium

I told Chad Dukes of the "Big O & Dukes" show after speaking with Frank Shamrock on MMA Nation that Frank seemed like one of those guys who's bragging, but convincingly acts like reality is on their side. In other words, he sounded like the truth was so juicy he couldn't wait to tell you.

On the "Big O & Dukes" show today on 106.7 WJFK in Washington, DC, Frank Shamrock went a step further. He not only says that Ken is like Mickey Rourke's character in "The Wrestler", but that the moment Ken had Pete Williams throw in the towel late into his fight with Kazuyuki Fujita was the moment he changed as a fighter and person (this, you may recall, is the "Petey, my heart!" situation so heavily referenced on forums).

Frank is always forthcoming, but when you get him to explore in detail you get very good interview content. I highly recommend a listen.

Frank is still the best interview in MMA. He’s hilariously self-serving and egotistical but that’s why I love him.

Frank Shamrock has a huge mouth. That may lend itself to great interviews, but he aggravates me. You say Frank Shamrock. I say I want a Renzo Gracie rematch.

That is the fight that should have been on teh upcoming SF card.

If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.

No doubt.

By the way, Fight Finder lists Nick Diaz at 6 foot even. Shamrock said “he’s like 6’3”. Not that it’s a big deal, but just an example of Frank’s fast and loose interpretation of reality. Of course, Sherdog could be wrong. Diaz could still be growing like a weed…so to speak.

Or Frank Shamrock could be full of shit. I’m taking the Vegas odds on this one.

Frank is the best self-promoter in the game.

He is probably the most popular non-UFC fighter.

It’s a shame, he would be great to have in the UFC.

Love to see him fight someone like Marquardt to see where his skills lie against top competition.

Does anyone believe anything Frank says anymore?

Just last month he said he fought like he did against Le to “"get us the CBS contract.”

The problem? The CBS deal was announced over a month prior to the damn fight.

Frank is like the Hulk Hogan of MMA, you really don’t know what is truth and what it fiction.
