Josh Neer vs. Kurt Pellegrino Moved to UFC 101
MMA Junkie is reporting that a lightweight bout pitting Josh "The Dentist" Neer against Kurt "Batman" Pellegrino, which was originally scheduled to headline an as-of-yet unanounced UFC Fight Night event on August 5th, is now being moved to UFC 101 on August 8th, rumored to emanate from the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia:
A source close to Neer told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the fighter has been contacted about the change, but as of Monday morning, bout agreements have not been signed.
This is a good move for the New Jersey-based Pellegrino, as he will now not only get to fight on a major PPV show, but will also have the hometown East Coast advantage. Both Neer and Pellegrino are coming off of impressive submission victories over Mac Danzig and Rob Emerson respectively, at February's UFC Fight Night 17, and with identical Octagon experience (8 fights each in the UFC), this should be an exciting and very even matchup.
The rumored card for UFC 101 now includes:
BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian (lightweight championship)
Melvin Gullard vs. Thiago Tavares
Josh Neer vs. Kurt Pellegrino
Kendall Grove vs. Wilson Gouveia
With the move of the Pellegrino-Neer bout, UFC Fight Night 19, expected for August 5th in Las Vegas, currently has no rumored fights.
