Lorenzo says UFC In Japan Probably Won't Happen, Talks France, Fedor, A Possible Event On St. Paddy's In Dublin, And More
![]() |
Sorry for the long title, but there is a lot of stuff he mentions. We all know about the UFC 101 and 102 news, but here is the other stuff he leaked:
- Says Japan is impossible to deal with. UFC in Japan will probably never happen.
- They are looking into holding an event on St. Paddy’s next year possibly in Dublin, Ireland or Boston, Massachusetts.
- Says the UFC is working on getting into Brazil, but it looks like they will make it into Australia first.
- Has never met Fedor, but he’d like to. Says Fedor is intriguing to say the least, but has been built up way too much, and that he needs to come to the UFC and fight Lesnar, Mir, Carwin etc for us to truly know the answer.
- Says France is a long term investment, but their last show did major ratings.

LOL
He was supposed to say the usual Fedor bullshit through his mouthpiece. Discounting Fedor is what you pay Dana for Lorenzo

Dude, now that Fedor’s ducking his toughest possible opponent (Barnett) I’d STFU about how invincible he is.

That’s funny that you’d say Fedor is ducking Barnett. Barnett’s already declined this fight twice and said he doesn’t want to fight Fedor because they are ‘good friends.’ Why would you assume, all of a sudden, that Barnett has changed his tune and Fedor is now the one running?

Because it is funnier that way?

I know another reason why
But saying it will get me banned again

Good joke. JB himself has said that he didn’t take the fight with Fedor at DOR because Affliction wasn’t paying enough money.
As for Affliction 3, it would be foolish for them to waste a high- interest fight like Fedor/ Barnett on an event on free TV. Personally, i’d be ecstatic if they did, but it’s simply not good business sense.

I wish I could bump all of the “UFC = JAPAN BOUND” posts and laugh at everyone who thought that would happen.
Looks like I was right on that one.

How can you “hat tip” yourself? The source is here: http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=forum.posts&forum=1&thread=1434616&page=1

I dug through multiple pages in that thread and pulled the quotes and wrote an article about it, genius.

Actually, he's right.
The hat top should go to the source, not the guy copying their info.
And a 5-point list isn’t exactly an ‘article’.

I won’t debate this further as I actually have things to do with my time (other than follow someone who actually owns a website from place to place like a mangy street dog complaining out of envy because you don’t, smoogers – and you should know that I get off on that) so I will leave you with the obvious. If I overhear two people talking on the street, in a restaurant, or on an internet forum, and I write about what they said, the street, restaurant, or forum is not the source. I am the source. You don’t hat tip a location where two people are talking (I did, however, clearly indicate the location of the conversation on my site.)
Regarding what constitutes an “article”, Ozzz, you can simply change the word to “post” and proceed past the semantics to an understanding of the point that was made.

No dude you're completely wrong
If you “overheard” Lorenzo having a press conference and the audio is hosted on the location’s website. You hat tip THEM. Not you because you went there – borrowed the audio – rehosted it and wrote a few words.
This is no different. It was an online, informal, press conference. Its hosted at the UG. They get the hat tip. I could copy paste the whole thing to Matbattle.com and hat tip them too. Doesn’t mean its right.

If I recall it was him versus the entire forum on that topic.

Actually it was pretty much him vs. the anti-Zuffa squad. Most of whom have posted on this topic.

I was counting on a shot like this leading the New York Times sometime in 2009
Dana White accompanied by mmalogic land ashore Japanese soil taking over the country’s MMA scene.

History reference: General MacArthur returning to the Philippines in 1944.

In Australia? I just can't see that happening.
We’re still in the Brutal Cage Fighting and Human Cawkfighting stage.

I could still see it happening in a few years perhaps.

Makes sense to build it from the ground up in places with no MMA rather than try and deal with Japan.
