UFC to Hold 2 Events in August

Source

As previously reported, the UFC will be going to Philadelphia on August 8, but there is more to that than originally thought. As first reported by Dave Meltzer, and confirmed on popular MMA forum The Underground by UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertita, the UFC will go to Philadelphia on August 8 for UFC 101 and Portland on August 29 for UFC 102. The Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira fight previously reported for UFC 101 will be the main event of UFC 102. The UFC is working on a main event between BJ Penn and Kenny Florian for the lightweight championship for UFC 101, though nothing is final at the moment.

The Forrest Griffin vs. Thiago Silva fight was originally reported to be held at UFC 101, however due to the recent revelations and Forrest's relationship with Randy Couture, it is unclear when the fight will take place.

UFC 101 is currently slated for August 8 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Wachovia Center. The likely fights for the event so far are:

UFC Lightweight Championship: BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian
Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares

UFC 102 is currently scheduled for August 29 in Portland, Oregon, at the Rose Garden. Here is the card at the moment:

Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira

Damn, I was hoping I would get to see all three of those fights here in Philly. Oh well, I’ll take whatever they give me because UFC 101 will be my first live UFC event I’ve attended and I can’t wait. Hopefully the Griffin-Silva fight stays on 101.

3 Events in August

There’s also a Fight Night rumored for 8/5, with Pellegrino-Neer as one of the headliners.

Recent revelation is that there are 2 PPV’s in August, it was previously thought there was only 1 (UFC 101). Relationship with Couture, they train together, maybe the UFC wants them to fight on the same card. So they don’t know if Forrest will fight on the UFC 101 card as originally thought, or will fight on the UFC 102 card along with Randy.

Couture vs Nog should not headline a PPV

Maybe they’ll make it free?

That’s absolutely ridiculous.
