Snapshot of the Day 2: Shane Carwin

"Carwin, who said he has to struggle to fit his hands into the same 4XL gloves that Lesnar wears, would almost certainly become a title contender with a decisive victory over Gonzaga."HT: FIGHT! magazine.
"Carwin, who said he's 6-2, figures to weigh around 255 against Gonzaga, cutting down from about 280 pounds. He's been working with John Chaimberg, welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre's strength and conditioning coach, in order to improve his speed, quickness and agility. He wants to be stronger and faster, not necessarily bigger."

His hype will definitely take a hit. With Carwin and Velasquez climbing up the later, the first to take a loss will lose their hype to the other.

I have yet to see Carwin in action
so I am excited to see this one.
Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics, even when you win you are still retarded.
I haven't seen much either,
But he’s one of those “get’s hit, then gets pissed kinda guys” so as a fan I hope that hit dont end it before he gets pissed
all you gotta do is...
Carwin’s work with Chaimberg should pay off. So far, that guy has been golden for GSP, Marquardt, and Rashad.
This is an intriguing fight. Carwin is not afraid to strike on the feet, and has very good TD ability. He’ll be slightly larger than Gonzaga, which is not common for Gonzaga to face. Gonzaga is a monster when he’s controlling the fight, but has folded when his opponent takes what he’s dishing out, and gives it right back. If Carwin can weather the storm, this should be a very good fight.
nick, i thought we were doing WEC 39 betting game? ..and how do the belts work? why was isey given a belt when someone else had 7k winnings on UFC95? ..are we supposed to bet only 1k?
i know this isnt the right place to say this, but i dont think you’d see my msg if i post it on the last betting game post. :)

The biggest issue for me is...
who is Shane Carwin? I know that GG can wilt when fights aren’t going his way…but he’s a big dude, with lots of skill and he hits like a truck.
All I know about Carwin is that he’s big and a good wrestler, and he’s pounded out lots of TOTAL scrubs and never seen past 180 seconds, let alone a 2nd round. We have no clue how he stands up to actually taking punishment because he’s overwhelming turds like Neil Wain…this is REAL test for Carwin. His gas tank is highly questionable (in terms of battle tested-ness) and he’s going to actually get hit by a certified bad ass and even if he puts GG on his back he’s dealing with someone with legit submission skills.
If he wins, I’m sold but if not I think we’ll know there was a lot of smoke and mirrors.
I am the bastard love child of Junie Browning and Diamond Dave Kaplan.
