David the Crow Loiseau UFC highlights from DrTopo on Vimeo.
David "the Crow" Loiseau has been one of my favorite fighter for a while so I figured I'd do a little video to hype his upcoming fight against Ed Herman at UFC 97 in Montreal.
Loiseau fought seven times in the UFC but got cut after lackluster losses to Rich Franklin and Mike Swick. If you've seen one of his better fight, you probably remember his nasty elbow strikes. He's cut quite a few of his opponents with his elbows, from the clinch or during brutal ground and pound. Other will remember the beautiful spinning back kick to Charles McCarthy, which the Crow uses in all his fights.
What actually made me a fan of the Crow was his ground defense. He has the habit of giving up his back and is a master at defending the rear naked choke. He will give his back from the bottom, then his opponent will try to choke him and roll with him. He then uses wrist control to spin and get back on top position. Then comes the ground and pound.
Try to get a hold of his fight against Evan Tanner, at Ultimate Fight Night 2, and you will see the best of Loiseau. That fight gave the Crow a title shot against Rich Franklin which he lost by unanimous decision. Some say he hasn't been the same fighter since then but he got a few good wins outside of the UFC since then. Hopefully we'll see the best of the Crow in Montreal and he can start another succesful run in the UFC.
So, here's a little video highlight of Loiseau. For the record, he lost that fight against Jorge Rivera, even though Jorge was cut badly. Also, notice Bruce Buffer face in the background during the gound and pound at 3:30.
Enjoy.
