Belcher vs. Sakara?
Is this fight still on given the recent rumors surrounding Belcher vs. Akiyama at UFC 100?
Maybe Belcher’s pulling the ol’ “schedule myself for two fights at once” ala Koscheck or Jeremy Stephens.

I believe it’s still a rumor for UFC 100. I like that fight though. =)

Hmmm.....
-500 on Hendo? I’m picking him in that fight but I think I’d take Bisping at +300. A couple other dogs I’d put a play on are Herring, Mir, and Alexander.

I'll be...
putting down on Bisping for sure

I've been calling Bisping over Hendo
for months now. So I can’t stop now.

Hendo has definitely looked like time has caught up with him lately, I’m no big fan of Bisping but I can definitely see him avoiding a lot of damage and pointing himself to a UD.
by ufc4 on Mar 16, 2009 9:15 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yea i think bisping will take this too. better and more crisp striking and pretty decent wrestling too..
the only way i see hendo winning is if he does what he did to franklin and grinds out a close decision too..
and at plus +300? damn..
by Anton Tabuena on Mar 16, 2009 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Bisping is more or less a poor man’s Franklin. He offers nothing that Franklin doesn’t bring harder.
Bisping is more of a +600 bet
by EazyEismydad on Mar 16, 2009 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i just think bisping will be too fast for Dan on their feet.. so unless dan tries to lay on him, bisping will box his way to victory.
and no, he fights a lot different than franklin.. rich has better kicks, bisping has better boxing.. rich has better jits, bisping has slightly better wrestling..
by Anton Tabuena on Mar 16, 2009 9:45 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think most would say Rich has better wrestling. Regardless Hendo should throw him around with not much trouble. As far as boxing more than kickboxing with him, that is arguably more risky knowing the punching power of Hendo as well as being close enough for him to clench up.
Also, Rich won the last round against Dan due to his top notch cardo. Bisping is not as much of a machine and won’t be able to outwork Dan late in the fight like Rich did.
by EazyEismydad on Mar 16, 2009 9:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
the recent bisping fights seem to suggest that he HAS good cardio..
i haven’t seen him tire at 185, and he fights at a much faster pace than before.. and all hendo brings in his striking is power.. he has bad technique and rich pretty much won the striking dept in their fight.. and i expect bisping to do so too..
by Anton Tabuena on Mar 16, 2009 9:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rich has cardio on a level that very few people are at. He pushed the pace the whole fight. Bisping isn’t as tenacious
by EazyEismydad on Mar 16, 2009 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
then we'll just have to wait for 100 cause i dont think any of us will back off from our stance.
i just hope hendo stands with him the whole fight..

If that line holds I will be too, I’ll be in Vegas for the fights so I’d love to pick up a little cash on the fights too. I’d probably bet on Mir too although I want Lesnar to win. Ill also throw down 270 on GSP to win an easy 100.
by ufc4 on Mar 16, 2009 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Man there are some crazy odds there… -395 for Velasquez vs Herring? -300 for Brock in the Brock vs Mir rematch?
I’m surprised that Franklin is the favourite against Wandy too, but not as much. GSP looks like a pretty good bet at those odds too.
by brad23 on Mar 16, 2009 6:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, how is Lesnar a bigger fave than GSP?
by ufc4 on Mar 16, 2009 7:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Didn't think Machida would be that favored
-200 against a sitting champion, with Rashad at +163?
Still, I think Machida is gonna win.

I know nothing about Xavier Foupa-Pokam, but I know enough about Denis Kang to not go with -500 for even a penny.
Also, 39 year old Chuck 2-1 favorite against Shogun?? W-O-W

No one’s debating that. But Shogun looked a million times better than Chuck did.
But since this is a betting post, let’s make a bet subo.
I’ll take Shogun, you take Chuck and we’ll see who gets the last laugh.
hehe
by AnonymousA on Mar 16, 2009 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Don’t mean to butt in, but seriously? Shogun looked “a million times better”? First of all, the guy Chuck fought is a million times better than Coleman, and Chuck didn’t really look bad until he caught that punch. If Chuck had brought his punch a half second sooner the whole LHW landscape would look completely different right now. I’m no Chuck nut-hugger either, I’m really not a big fan of his, but I just don’t agree that Shogun is a better fighter than him right now. Shogun gassed in the 2nd round against a 40-some year old guy who didn’t even have a training camp and he couldn’t even finish the fight, and we know what happened in his fight before that. Chuck’s last 2 fights are WAY more impressive than Shogun’s.
by ufc4 on Mar 16, 2009 9:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Cool. Then you won’t mind taking Chuck either.
So, it’s me vs. Subo and UFC4. Anyone else who wants to get in is more than welcome.
by AnonymousA on Mar 16, 2009 9:47 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Unfortunately, Shogun has decided to separate into two entities, the ass kicking stomping Pride monster AND the UFC “Slogun” gassing, ACL injured, cant even finish frickin Coleman guy. So who shows up against Chuck? My money is on #2 and that’s why even though Chuck has lost a lot he’ll still wing his way to the W.
by Sokonojudo on Mar 16, 2009 9:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
what the hell dude.. a gassed out coleman was beating up shogun on his feet.. he was eating those uber slow jabs of a 40+ year old pure wrestler..
what more if he ate as many overhand rights from chuck?
and whats with the me vs subo and ufc4, thats just lame..

if the shogun vs coleman shows up and the chuck vs evans shows up..
it would mean goodnight shogun in the first round.. he’s slow, he comes straight forward, doesnt hit that hard, and has weak defense.. Perfect formula for chuck to get a KO in my opinion..
by Anton Tabuena on Mar 16, 2009 10:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well, the UFC is really hoping that the Shogun who fought Coleman shows up, that’ll give them two things they want- the chance to build Chuck back up for one last title shot, and to cut Shogun or force him to take a paycut.

Mir’s a dead man without Maz to save his life, so that explains that line. British hubris will make Hendo look better later on.

And I see myself losing more money on a Miller brother.
by subo on Mar 16, 2009 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’m all over that Mir line. That is unbelievably ridiculous that Lesnar in just his 4th fight is that much of a fave over a guy that beat him already. LOL.
by Bigperm on Mar 16, 2009 8:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
5th fight, 4th in the UFC. Also, while I think the line is a little out of whack the thinking that “Mir already beat him so he should be the favorite” doesn’t really hold any water. Lesnar was dominating that fight before the standup and it was his 2nd pro fight, he’s a completely different fighter now. I didn’t see anyone bitching about the line for Serra-St Pierre 2 even though Serra had already beat him.
by ufc4 on Mar 16, 2009 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
While Brock may be a different fighter, Mir certainly showed a lot against Nog. Do you think Brock could TKO Nog at this point? I don’t know..I’m not sure about that. Also, to compare the GSP/Serra line in the 2nd fight is absurd. Mir is def way more legit than Serra in MMA circles. And Brock is nowhere close to the type of complete fighter GSP is.
by Bigperm on Mar 17, 2009 9:52 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I absolutely think Brock could KO the Nog that Mir fought, the guy was obviously not 100% dealing with the staph infection, he had surgery a week after the fight. Credit to Mir he looked very good in that fight, but I don’t know how much of it was improvement from him and how much was Nog not being himself that night.

Surprised no one is playing on Condit at +105.
Chances are it will be down to even or -110 by fight time.
Condit vs Kampmann is a great matchup, and I think Kampmann has a very good chance, but Condit has a lot to prove being the former WEC champ, and his first fight in the UFC, as well as his first headliner in the UFC.
Condit’s reach is going to be the difference maker.
by DirtyML on Mar 16, 2009 8:42 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Also Xavier Foupa-Pokam +300 is not a bad choice either, given how abysmal Kang has looked of late.
by DirtyML on Mar 16, 2009 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I wouldn’t bet against Kang in that fight. Pokam isn’t bad, but he isn’t great either.

Condit...
At +105, it isn’t a blockbuster bet. That’s my problem. The matchup is fairly even as Condit has decent standup, great jiu-jitsu, but Kampmann is more than likely a bit of an advantage in technical striking, but deficient to Condit on the floor.
It’s also a fight that too close to call for me, and I would stay away from it, to be honest. It could go either way.

I am actually thinking about picking Leites. I think he can get Silva down and possibly SUB him. Like I said in my first post though don’t write it down as an official pick yet though.
I only bet with my friends right now, because that way I know I won’t lose to much money even though my friend kicked my a** in betting at UFC 96 which surprised me because I thought it was an easy card to pick but I was wrong.
by The Legend on Mar 16, 2009 8:58 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
If your friends like to bet see if they want Rashad Evans against Machida, they’ll want they guy who “KTFO’d Liddell!!!!!11” instead of the “boring guy”, easy money for you.
by ufc4 on Mar 16, 2009 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Evans/Machida is a tough one for me because I think Rashad is one of the only fighters right now that could possibly beat Machida but you never know with Lyoto. Also my friend hates Rashad so I would probably have to take him in the fight if we bet on it.

Lesnar wont ever be favored to lose. they are not gonna let that happen. i think if he fought Fedor it would be like couture they would set the lines at even. you will never see +anything for brock hes either gonna be the favorite or it will be a pick em type match up.

Hmmm, Mir definitely jumps out at +235. Even though Lesnar has huge meathooks, I have visions of him getting his ass kneebarred, armbarred, or flying scissors heel hooked (Okay maybe not that one).
Sherk seems like easy money at -275.
How the hell is Bader -550? I’m going to guess Marrero is TUFfeed.
GSP @ -270 is tempting but Alves is a scary dude & also surprised that Anderson Silva is only -500, should be in Cote/ Serra territory.
For my last pick, I like Guida @ +220. His recent efficiency at decisions has impressed me.

by ufc4 on Mar 16, 2009 9:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Unless Lesnar has some appendages coming out of his anus I’ll still go with the kneebar. Also, Mir is getting arthroscopic surgery which isn’t nearly as bad as ligament reconstruction.
by Sokonojudo on Mar 16, 2009 9:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, it’s not a huge deal, but if there is even a chance that Mir won’t be coming in at 100% Vegas is going to reflect that in the odds.
Also, Mir is going to be the one with the appendages coming out of his anus, namely Lesnar’s foot.
