Stitch greasing Hughes.

Somebody posted this on another forum.
We see Stitch's hands go from Hughes face to his body.
After seeing this, one has to question credible Hughes' comments about GSP being slippery are?
Personally, I think this shows just how easy it is for somebody, even the best, to get careless.
Stitch is repected by virtually everyone in the MMA community and works not just on wrestlers, but BJJ guys as well. Why would he intentionally do that?
And if he can slip up, one should not be surprised that it happened with Nurse, especially when he was not only in charge of the vasoline, but also with applying the goofy voodoo breathing massage.

The Inside Scoop
Maybe Hughes is a better authority to speak on greasing, as he is speaking from experience.
It’s pretty damning for GSP. They should be awarding BJ the Welterweight Championship any time now.

I don’t think it makes his comments about GSP any less credible.
Hughes also said that he didn’t have a problem with fighters trying to gain an advantage from something that wasn’t in the rule book.

Gif would be better if it showed him putting PJ on those fingers.

Why do you think he had his hands on his face? And why do you think Hughes is making that face that ALL fighters make when getting vaseline applied.

I’m under the impression cutmen do more than just put on PJ.
Perhaps I’m wrong and your interpretation of matt’s facial expressions make attempts at understanding the situation irrelevant.

This is damning evidence for those like Dana White who think that what Nurse did was cheating. This is the top UFC cut man, a UFC employee, greasing a fighter.
The video of Rich Franklin’s corner greasing him is more severe, as the corner man just puts grease directly on Rich’s body.
Hughes’ comments were a joke regardless, as there were no positions for him to notice GSP being slippery, and if any fighter would’ve benefitted from GSP being slippery in those fights, it was Hughes.

I don't think Stitch is a UFC employee
he’s a cutman in virtually half the major events boxing or otherwise that take place

He’s not employed by the fighters, that much is certain. He can be employed by the UFC and also work for boxing matches. One doesn’t preclude the other.

Precisely. If the guy who’s job it is to apply vaseline to fighters faces to prevent cuts/minimize damage from cuts is also wiping grease on the bodies of fighters, it shows that either the verbal rule isn’t clear or even relayed at all, or that even professionals make mistakes in the heat of the moment.

Accusations are nothing like evidence, however.
What this gif shows is further evidence supporting GSP’s camp claim that what happenned was accidental, as here we see a neutral party making the same accident.

The real greasing problem is’nt what you see in front of your face like this gif or what you seen Nurse do at 94. The real greasing is done earlier in the day when vasaline and similar substances are applied and/or the fighter takes a “grease bath”(both cause you to “sweat” grease later) It’s pretty obvious GSP has done this more than once but that’s not saying some of his competition did’nt. Bottomline unless there is gonna be a mandatory pre fight shower for all fighters some form of “greasing” will always be done and exist as a taboo entity like the “spit ball” in baseball.
by irepdaronx on Mar 12, 2009 5:37 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Pretty obvious that GSP did it how exactly? You were in the backroom with him? You know him personally somehow and have inside information? We might as well assume that if GSP does it, everyone does. Same with roids and other things.

GSP fans hit new low!
Only on the interenet boards will GSP fans some how make it matt hughes fault GSP is getting accused of cheating.
SHOW ME WERE THERE IS A BOTTLE OF VASELINE IN THE PICTURE.
If you havent fought before let me explain this to you.
You use vaseline to prevent cuts.
You use a swabstick to absorb blood and hopefully to help stop the cut that is already going. You apply the swab stick to help the cut clot and slow down the bleeding.
In this half a sec clip
stich does not rub anything into matts shoulder he swips something off his shoulder we don’t clearly see. Most likley a trickle of blood because its coming down from a swab stick.
You dont have to believe me
but I have fought before,
I’ve worked with cutmen,
and I’ve cornered fighters before… as a matter of fact, I did it 2 weeks ago.
Don’t blame Duran or Hughes because BJ and GSP fans are in some dumb board war over if GSP cheated or not!
That’s Pathetic and IT"S WRONG!!!

@gothhead
I would agree with you except for the small tiny fact that hughes has chosen to involve himself, which makes it completely ok to question his motives and show that maybe he is as guilty. The gif shows his face, with vaseline on it, being wiped then being wiped on his body. He still had vaseline on his face so there would have been transfer. I still don’t believe it would be enough to matter but he has chosen the high ground so leaves himself open, even if one does believe his BS.

by subo on Mar 12, 2009 11:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but maybe this is like other sports with steroids/other types of cheating…you rarely (if ever) hear current players or managers outright accuse others of cheating/roiding. Lots of people figure this is because everyone’s doing it so why point things out that might be turned around on you later?
Like when Kenny Rogers was pine-tarring his hand up against the Cardinals. Everyone on earth was waiting for Tony LaRussa to call him out during the game, but he never did. Later on a lot of analysts agreed it may have been because some of LaRussa’s guys did the same thing, so he kind of had to keep his mouth shut.
What does this have to do with anything? I have no idea. But maybe “greasing” like this has been fighter’s dirty little secret that has had the whistle blown on it.
by Farthammer on Mar 12, 2009 11:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Having some vaseline in your back is not cheating, the idea that some people can’t grasp such a simple thing is beyond me. The idea that anyone with a normal iq would think it does makes me continue to just shake my head and wonder just how gullible and stupid most mma fans are. There is a difference between being greased up like Akiyama and having some vaseline on your via transfer, but I am glad that others are calling bs on Hughes/Stitch and others who’ve complained about GSP cause imo they asked for this by their comments.

You know what???
This whole thing is becoming more sickening all the time. Jeez – BJ and crew…. face the facts. BJ got dominated from the first seconds into the fight right to the bitter end. All this crap about greasing making the difference is absolute garbage.
I am still a BJ fan… but am really struggling with the display of poor sportsmanship by him and his fans. BJ needs to man up and admit that he got out wrestled, out jitsued, and outclassed by GSP. How about a dose of humility, admit that it wasn’t his night, and move on to Florian with an attitude of working harder. Stop with the crybaby crap… and move on.
I posted a similiar message on BJPENN.COM and got banned from the site. Doesn’t this explain it all????

If GSP is a greaser, can't we say BJ is an eye-gouger?
For all the BJ apologists, how many fights has BJ fought in which he has “inadvertantly” poked someone in the eye? It happened in the first GSP fight leading to a clear advantage as GSP struggled the rest of the round to see while BJ does all the damage he was to do in the fight. It happened in his second Matt Hughes fight before his “ancient Hawaiian warrior” conditioning kicked in and he ate right after right to his dome. These are two that come to mind, but there might be more (does anybody remember any?)
Even if it was only twice, if GSP behaved like BJ then he would appeal for no contest and launching an all-out PR war that only hurts the sport which is still battling for acceptance in the mainstream public (now in addition to being “human cockfighting,” they all cheat.) As an ex-BJ fan, his inability to admit defeat or get over his own ego by surrounding himself with real trainers and training partners instead of yes men and actually condition and have a gameplan is exactly why he will lose again and always be wasted potential.
