MMAJunkie reports on the night's bonuses:
TAMPA, Fla. - Josh Neer, Mac Danzig, Cain Velasquez and Joe Lauzon each earned $30,000 "fight night" bonuses for their performances at "UFC Fight Night 17: Lauzon vs. Franca."
...
The bonus amounts matched the $30,000 bonuses that were given out at the most recent UFC Fight Night event in December 2008.
Fight Of The Night: Josh Neer vs. Mac Danzig
Knockout Of The Night: Cain Velasquez
Submission Of The Night: Joe Lauzon
And it looks like the UFC pulled a respectable attendance number for such a large Fight Night venue, but not a huge gate with their first trip to Tampa:
Saturday's "UFC Fight Night 17: Lauzon vs. Stephens" event scored 7,596 attendees at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla.
The near-soldout crowd accounted for a live gate of approximately $428,000.
While the UFC's "Fight Night" events are traditionally held in smaller venues, such as those at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and The Palms in Las Vegas, UFC Fight Night 17 stuck with a recent trend of hosting the shows in larger venues.
For example, UFC Fight Night 14 (April 2008), held at the Broomfield Event Center in Colorado, drew 6,742 attendees for a $753,429 gate. UFC Fight Night 15 (September 2008), held at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Nebraska, drew approximately 7,000 fans for a $700,000 gate. And UFC Fight Night 16 (December 2008), held at North Carolina's Crown Coliseum as a fundraiser for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, drew approximately 8,500 attendees, all of whom were military personnel.

How much were the gates at the last UFNs held in The Hard Rock?
If you're not submitting, you're just rolling around with another guy.
Hmm...
Attendance/gate figures are missing on Wikipedia for 2 out of 3 events they’ve held there…

Could be Florida is one of the commissions that doesn’t generally release the numbers.
How funny is it...
that the week after a massively promoted PPV where all but two fights went to the scorecards, the completely unheralded Fight Night on cable has only one of ten fights go to a decision.
Did they still give out a bonus for finishes last night? That’s what’s weird to me – they offered 20k for finishes and got one last week, and tonight they get nine.

I haven’t always been the biggest Danzig fan, but he showed me something against Neer. Neer was an unstoppable force but Mac tried hard to hang, I hope he can stay in the UFC for another shot.
Neer must have a different pain threshold than most, I think it may take a .45 to put him down.
Yeah but...
Danzig’s striking was classic. He threw combos from the pocket very well. My only criticism of Danzig was his utter lack of respect for Neer’s Jits. That was some bone head shit to get caught in at this point in his career.

“We’re very happy with the turnout,” White said, sitting ringside. “We brought a Fight Night here first to test out the waters, to see how a pay-per-view would do and we’re very happy with the turnout, especially with all the other stuff going on here.”

On the undercard: Anthony Jackson stopped St. Petersburg native Luigi Fioravanti 4:39 into the first round. Despite the early TKO, Jackson was his own worse critic.
Kurt Pellegrino collected a second-round tap out at the 3:14 mark against Rob Emerson after a rear-legged choke
I prefer...
“rear-legged choke”

Velasquez got KO of the night? Anthony Johnson’s stoppage was more of a KO than Velasquez’ was. If they had “total domination” of the night, fine, but that got “KO” of the night? Really?
This was a fun show to watch. I was disappointed that Danzig didn’t pull it off, but the fights were all entertaining.
You are very right. There should have been no KOOTN. There was no KO last night except for Grice and that was bull shit.

That acronym is highly offensive. ;-)

Well almost, but it is if you suffer from inexplicable temporary dyslexia, like I apparently do. :-)

They got nearly 8,000 on Gasparilla and the florida state fair.
That is wayyyyyyyyyyy better than you think.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
Joe Lauzon was impressive!!
I have never been a fan of “Creepy” Joe but last night I was blown away by his superior Jits. The kid was in total control of that fight. When I read his pre fight comments I doubted that he would be able to deliver but I was wrong. J-LAU earned at least 1 new fan last night.

Anybody considered that the results of this card
are the perfect answer to Grease-gate (or whatever its being called?).
Listening to the MMA blogosphere you would have thought that one form or another of greasing was so prevalent that no one would ever be submitted again, EVAR!
And here we have a card with so many subs, and good ones at that. Nice.
