Having a striking coach on hand on a regular basis is going to be a really big help to my striking game. It’s definitely not very good right now. Striking is probably the most dangerous and hardest to learn. For me, in wrestling -- and now in jiu-jitsu -- I learn by failing. I learn by getting taken down and getting pinned, getting choked, and it’s not a big deal. That’s a hard thing to do in striking because, hell, it hurts getting punched in the head. You can’t just go into the cage and say, "Hey, punch me in the head until I figure it out." I can’t really figure it out by failing.

I like that these guys now a have real career to move onto after college. It used to be they had to get a real job or live in poverty pursuing the Olympics.

He, Wade Rome, and Kiko France are all fighting at the same show this weekend. A couple friends of mine are going and I’m gonna see if I can’t make it too.

Wade doesn’t fight anymore, just coaches and runs the gym. I can’t wait to see Askren and Kiko fight. Kiko’s BJJ is unreal I’m sure his guy will be tapping in round one.

Shit, somebody told me that Wade was fighting too.

I’ve only trained with Kiko once, but his jiu-jitsu is awesome to watch. What do you think the sub will be? I’m guessing arm triangle again.
