Tito Ortiz Vs. Rashad Evans (The Start of VaselineGate?)
This was the fight that got me hooked on MMA and I have watched every fight since. I even went back and watch old UFC fights to get caught up. One thing that stuck out in my mind besides the hype and the fight itself was the post fight trash talk. At the UFC press confrence Rashad told Tito to take off his sunglasses so he could see how badly his face was busted up and Tito responded "what was up with all of the extra vaseline you had on". Rashad quickly denide it and changed the subject. I had always thought Tito was just being a sore looser but maybe this was the start of vaselinegate.
Note : Rashad Is trained by Greg Jackson who is the same trainer as GSP.

Well, this is sounding like a pattern. Of Jackson’s camp, Evans, Sanchez, Huerta, and GSP have now been accused by different fighters at different times, in victory and loss.
Hell, it’s starting to sound like an open secret.

Mayhem, Diaz, Florian, and Tito all talked about this shit prior to the Penn/GSP cock-up.

To be fair....
I’ve heard accusations of guys being slippery many, many times that was not in reference to any Jackson fighters. It’s the MMA equivalent to saying your joystick didn’t work when you played Street Fighter II as a teenager. I haven’t touched this topic at all because I prefer to be neutral in the hopes that, guilty or not, we can grow to move past it. I hate the idea that such a landmark fight and historic athletic performance are being shrugged at in the face of these accusations. I hate all of the controversy and negativity in American sports and sports media, and it’s why I only begrudgingly watch ESPN (due to the lack of alternatives).
Let’s just let this pot simmer until the Athletic Commission decides if we need to get hot.
Yeah, I’ve tried not to comment on any of this either. And I agree that greasing allegations from Tito and many others usually would and should be quickly laughed off and put away; however, folks like Florian and Sherk haven’t really done this sort of stuff before or since. Florian even won that fight.
I’m not saying that it is proof or even anywhere near enough evidence to even make the leap to think that it probably occurred. However, it is certainly enough to justify somebody at the commission investigating this a little further than the usual Tito excuse.

If Dana was saying that Huerta felt slippery I’d really have to question how Dana came to that conclusion.

THIS IS GREASY BUISINESS!
Forrest may have done the same thing against Tito. During the fight Tito goes for a take down and Forrest slips out of hit and tito looks down at his hands, then looks at the ref and is says ‘he greased’
I wonder if some of it is the mineral oil baths that can be taken the night before the fight? Then they are just swearing lube.
