UFC94 - Photo Blog
I discovered this photo blog by accident and was pretty impressed.
Mark J. Rebilas a photographer working for ESPN has his first experience shooting a UFC event. I found it interesting to read his comments, especially coming from a sports photographer and someone who's never experienced or seen MMA, live or otherwise.
Mark starts his blog entry off:
With Super Bowl weekend off I was desperate to find a shoot. My wishes were answered when one of my editors from ESPN.com called and asked if I wanted to travel to Las Vegas to shoot UFC 94. I knew nothing about the sport, haven’t even watched it before but of course I acted like I knew about it and gladly accepted the gig. From there it was time to start asking friends with experience how to shoot it.
After getting the hang of shooting through the cage he comes out with some great shots:

Being a blog entry and a first timer, he shows a lot more variety than Im used to seeing from fight photographers: blood on the mat, everyone in the crowd holding their cameras up, GSP spitting out water. I think my favorite is the elusive Machida shot.

He needs a bullfighting cape.
I loved the Machida - Silva fight
Machida showed that he’s a tough problem for anyone to solve… the very dangerous Thiago Silva couldn’t figure him out, and this leaves me all the more juiced for his next fight.

Mark isn't just *any* photographer
He was awared Photographer of the Year 2008 by sportsshooter.com – and it’s easy to see why. He thinks outside the box and came away with some stellar material.
Of course, now the bar has truly been raised and I’ve got my work cut out for me when covering ’95… damn!

A blog will be needed!
On a serious note, I really enjoyed this one and I’ve always enjoyed Tracy Lee’s ones as well.
Since I don't have my own blog
I’ll probably report on it here…
