Quote of the Day: Dana White on Georges St Pierre and Grease
"I think that using grease or Vaseline is completely illegal, but in this case I don't think it made a difference in that fight. I know Georges St. Pierre. He's not a cheater. He wanted this fight so bad to prove that he was the best fighter in the world. He completely dominated that fight. It had nothing to do with grease.... The athletic commission is looking into it. You can not rub grease on any part of the body besides the face. [The commission] took all our camera work from all the different angles and is looking into it. This is the case of a stupid cornerman. The cornerman did it and he is going to be held accountable for it.... Anything can happen to his cornerman - everything from a fine to never being able to work in the corner again."

I know Georges St. Pierre. He’s not a cheater.
How can he say such a thing when the shit stirrers here are saying the opposite? How dare he?
Maybe because
GSP is the UFC’s biggest & most popular champion & it would company/career suicide to not support him?
How quickly they turn..
You went from “But Dana said he greased, so it must be true!!!” to “We can’t believe Dana cuz he has ulterior motives!!!” very fast eh?
Not about being true or not,
Dana is saying “greasing period is illegal” that is what I agreed with.
In other words,
his golden goose is involved in this & he is still saying that any greasing is illegal.
And what were you saying
when Dana made those same comments about Sherk? Oh yeah, you were destroying him.
Are you denying it?
You did not hammer Sherk without knowing his “intent” or how the juice got in him? lol
Not that I believe him at all, but I did not physically see him poking his own ass with Test
I have no idea what you’re talking about, honestly, but I know that last we collided you tried to bring Varner into the mix, and now Sherk. I think it’s become more clear how full of crap your argument is.
What I brought in
was your bashing of people accused with absolutely no evidence (Varner) & your refusal to even acknowledge that this is completely fishy. Which leads me to believe that had this not been accused of GSP during his fight with your antichrist (BJ) then you would be all over this.
I think you two have both made your point
Please take a time out.
"the spirit of your average dumbass"
Dana said the same thing about SHERK
Did anyone care or stop talking about it, nope!
all you gotta do is...
does anyone belive that dana white knows every rule, word for word, in the nsac’s rulebook. i highly doubt it.
I highly doubt...
that he hasn’t gone over it, in detail, with the commission.

he says that "i THINK that using vaseline or grease is completley illegal. we all know that to be not true.
If we're going to cherrypick quotes...
You can not rub grease on any part of the body besides the face.

i’m only replying to the quote that this site just posted. you say that you doubt that he hasn’t gone over it in detail with the nsac. if he had gone over it in detail, why would he still think that vaseline is completley illegal.
Watch this sucker
snowball into 200 comments as well. It’s the same thing over and over. What would BE be posting about if it had never happened? Sheesh!
So how bout that Cain Velazquez huh guys? Can’t wait too see him back in action this Sat!
I'm working on trying...
to write a little about Saturday’s show…considering that there…is a show Saturday

Cain is the shit! The faster the NSAC rules on this, the faster we can move on and focus on other fights. (Well, at least the majority of us).
Yes
That Cain a Velasquez guy. He make a me veree excite! Not like Pamela but you know what I mean. Yes?
Seriously though its good to have him back in action. Hope he runs through Stojnic and his impressive record.

Alright...
I put it in another thread…but I’m putting it here as well…
THE TELLING OTHER PEOPLE WHAT THEY MEAN WILL STOP NOW! There is not going to be any more "you say that but you REALLY mean…" or "you’re just saying that because…"
State your points…BUT do not put words in other people’s mouths (or on their keyboards as the case may be).
I’ll turn this car around right now if you push me

This is why I like coming to this site. The postings are actually moderated, instead of allowing it to degenerate into cave-man grunting.

Its all the cornermans fault? Poor GSP doesn’t know whats going on? Find that hard to believe, the entire “team” cheated. But nice to see Dana supporting his fighters, doesn’t make anything he says true though…
If there was a concentrated effort to cheat, everyone probably knew about it.
I find it hard to believe that you can’t comprehend the possibility that this was an innocent mistake. Just Nurse going to do the back rub thing without remembering to wipe off the vaseline from his hands. I’m not saying that’s definitely what happened, I just have trouble understanding how people can completely throw out that possibility.
I do not want to throw out any of the possibilities.
For me, it makes it harder to believe this was one honest mistake by a cornerman when the same accusations have been made by five independent fighters. What I do find hard to believe is that all five of these fighters all decided to make this up so their loss would look better. The truth is that GSP killed all of these guys & would have done so w/o greasing IMO, and losing to possibly an all time great fighter is not something to be ashamed of.
greased
watching bj penns legs slide off the back of gsp is A BIG DEAL.he cheated .end of story.ufc doesnt want to make a big deal out of it for there own reasons.
Using Vaseline on the body is pretty clearly against the rules
"I think that using grease or Vaseline is completely illegal,….- Dana White
Obviously it’s illegal and definitely unfortunate to Penn and also unfortunate to St. Pierre.“- Keith Kizer

It seems that way because the deniers started off by saying that it never happened. When video evidence was presented, they claimed that it was dealt with because the commission was able to wipe it off. When confronted with plain evidence that GSP was greased up between rds 1 and 2 and entered the fight that way because the commission couldn’t get to him, the claim became that the rules allow greasing as long as it’s not too much. When presented with direct quotes from the head of the NSAC and the UFC clearly stating that the actions were illegal, the deniers choose to start all over and say that the same things are being said over and over.
There are people repeating over and over that nothing happened, they just happen to be wrong.

Are you saying that GSP entered Rd 2 greased, or entered the beginning of the fight greased?
Dana White’s quotes state something other than what the rules clearly state. That’s an issue for the NSAC to sort out. The written rules state that non-excessive amounts of grease are allowed on the body and face.
He entered Rd 2 after Vaseline had been applied to his body. No attempt was made at removing it.

I saw that guy repeating “over and over” that Kizer never said it.

dueldiagnosis, From your profile you have posted a little over 300 comments in total on BE, and over 80 comments on this whole “grease gate” issue alone. Do you have some hidden agenda here? Why are you so obsessed with this? Others have asked you, and I’ll ask it again, did you lose your shirt betting on this fight?
I don’t bet on fights, other than this BE contest. What I have been saying is fact based, others here may want to protect a fighter or have some ego attached to denying what happened.
I could care less which fighter this was or who he fought- others keep bringing that in to play.
If it was Randy Couture or Wes Simms, I would want this practice to end. It gives fighters an unfair advantage, that is unquestioned.
I am not sure why there are defenders of the practice, I will leave that to others to speculate on.

Dana has said exactly what I have been saying. The NSAC is looking into, it seems to be an accident on the part of phil nurse, not premeditated, won’t happen again.
Can we put it behind us now? I don’t want the same guys pissing and moaning day and night for the next two weeks and every time GSP is set to fight someone. One way or another, it won’t happen again, so let’s just be happy about that.
The only person who REALLY went public about it was Mayhem, who wouldn’t state who it was exactly and didn’t want to get into it. All these other guys may have valid complaints, but I don’t give a damn who you are, your point is moot if it took you even more than a month to talk to someone about it. You don’t come up a year later when some guy has the balls to complain and say ‘Oh yeah! Me too!" True or not, no one is gonna give a damn because obviously YOU didn’t give a damn if you waited this long.
And to those who will reply to this with their typical replies of how they can’t just blame Phil Nurse, and how they can’t just let this go, and how they can’t ignore all the other fighters claiming he was greasy when they fought…
They can, and they have, get over it.
we still don't know the amount of vaseline...
This thing has been blown out of proportion and there is no evidence that there was any vaseline on his shoulders after the rub. It is possible but I still look at the footage that was shown and wonder how much greasing was taking place. It was a stupid thing to do because of what is now happening with discussion boards everywhere. BJ lost this fight and it was not the result of vaseline. I hope that the UFC is reviewing all tapes of every GSP fight just to prove that this was a mistake that may or may not have resulted in GSP being slipperier than usual. I don’t think there is any proof that he was. Those high guard attempts were not even close to being tight because of GSP’s movement. Show me any images that prove otherwise. I hope they really look at the tape with Mayhem since he is trying to take advantage of a very unfortunate situation. It will be interesting as information is provided in the coming days. GSP is innocent and beat BJ soundly. JMHO.
I'll be back to add more in the next twenty-four...unless, by some mishap, someone K.O s FEDOR.
