Hicks is GOOD
I’ll honestly be very impressed if McCullough beats him.

No doubt
I would put money on hicks for sure. McCullough drops his head and gets caught in the Hicks guillotine and its over and done.
"Stop smiling you are about to be punched in the face !"
He obviously...
made some mistakes in his last fight but Hicks is the kind of guy that can wear McCullough down and submit him for sure.

I think Hicks lacks the range to stand with razor and he lacks the boxing skill to work inside without getting tagged. He is a tough guy, but he is one of those guys who is very talented, but doesn’t have to right body type. I think he is just too short to beat a tall striker like McCullough. He is, not doubt, very skilled.
I don't see it.
At all. C’mon, this isn’t McCullough’s first rodeo. Who has Hicks beat?

Okay, honestly?
Are you guys fucking with me? Hicks? Really? How does Hicks win this fight?

Nice dodge.
How does Hicks win? I’d probably say guillotine after overwhelming Razor, who has looked quite lackadaisical and tired in his past few fights. Of course, I agree with the odds posted and would not be surprised at all if Razor put Hicks down with strikes.
Didn't mean to dodge.
McCullough’s wins over Crunkilton, Nam Phan, Sarmiento, and Cope, while not worthy of Hall of Fame induction, are certainly more impressive than anything on Hicks’ record.
Additionally, McCullough went three rounds with Varner and took Cerrone to a decision. Those two are currently the cream of the WEC 155 crop. While I’m hesitant to use MMAth, or mutual common opponent, you have to admit Hicks looked completely overwhelmed in the short time he managed to last against Varner.
In closing, McCullough by superior stand-up, McCullough by vastly more experienced (fighting profesionally for eight years now), McCullough by Team-Punishment developed sprawl when Hicks realizes he can’t hang on the feet and tries to shoot on him.
The guillotines against inexperienced opponents. Do not see Rob getting caught in some amateur-hour shit like that.

The only really impressive win you listed was over Cleat (albeit Rich was fighting like a bit of a dumbass). Cope is not really a decent win at all, the Sarmiento fight was definitely controlled by Rob but at the same time not much more than dancing around throwing low kicks, and his win over Nam Phan (a natural FW) was at a time when both of them were complete unknowns. I’d take Hicks’ wins over Ratcliff and Gomez over all of Razor’s wins except Cleat.
this should have gone here:
Gomez over Sarmiento, Phan, and Cope?
Gomez is the definition of a regional-show level fighter. He has one win outside of Wisconsin, and it was in Indiana. Cope, meanwhile, is a world-class Muay Thai practitioner. In what part of the game is Gomez world class?

1. Kit Cope is not a world-class muay thai practitioner, he’s a fraud. His entire career is made up and was capped by his ‘Real Life’ documentary where he fought a fat cab driver. If you told anyone in the MT community that Kit Cope is ‘world-class’ they would either laugh at you or have no idea who you are talking about.
Moreover, why would his (fake) muay thai creds make the win any more impressive? Malaipet, an actual Lumpinee stadium champ of considerable notoriety, is 3-3 in MMA. Getting a win over him is not really notable, so why should a win over a MT fraud be notable?
And I’ll just add that if you’re going to criticize Gomez for only fighting in regional shows in Wisconsin, I’ll point out that Nam Phan has only fought once outside California. In addition, when Razor beat Nam Phan, it was:
- the third fight of the night for both men
- only a two-rounder
- and Nam had only a 4-0 record against opponents whose aggregate record at the time was 6-3, with one making his MMA debut (and last fight) against Phan. It wasn’t exactly an impressive win at the time, nor is it really now.
Jesus
I swore I was going to stop doing this, but are you really comparing the region of California to the region of Wisconsin in terms of MMA scene? Do you really think that’s a good parallel?
Hicks and McCullough fight in about 60 hours. I guess we’ll find out then.

Well, if you’re allowed to say that Kit Cope is a world-class muay thai fighter, I can compare Wisconsin to Cali. :p
