Quote of the Day: Ken Pavia

From Monday's Savage Dog Show [1hr 57m mark]:
Jeff Sherwood: Who is, say, the latest fighter you've picked up that you're most excited about?
[pause]
Ken Pavia: War Machine.
[pause]
JS: War Machine.
KP: I'm excited because I think he's a project. I think he's a genuine, wear-it-on-your-sleeve guy who sometimes needs a little bit of a filter. But I like the kid. I think he's a good kid, he's misunderstood. And I like projects. And War Machine's behind the eight ball right now and we can change that. You know, we're gonna get him some good PR, we're coaching him through some interviews, um... we're telling him not to change, be himself, be War Machine, just don't start too many brawls in gay clubs and you'll be okay.
I swore a personal moratorium on posting anything War Machine, but it's a slow news day. Best of luck, Ken.
By the way: the same show has a great interview with Leonard Garcia, who sounds confident as hell going into his title fight wth Mike Thomas Brown this weekend in Texas.

What a glutton for punishment....
I can’t think of anyone in all of MMA that I’d want to represent less.

Depends
on how good a fighter he really is. I’m not sure – but if had potential as a fighter he couldb e a huge star. His personality can make him a start – love him or hate him people will tune in.
Now it’s up to him showing how good a fighter he is.

I mean, if you like projects that fucking much, the Jews and the Arabs are still having their thing.

I thought he and J Rock put on a good show when they fought. War Machine has not had much direction growing up, his “filters” are wack. Give him a chance, he may grow up a bit. He will sell tickets, no doubt.

That “had a bad childhood, give him a chance” mentality is complete shit. He is a fucking adult, he knows what is right and wrong. All that thought process does is enable his attitude and actions.

The guy’s an athlete and is good at his sport. He’s been paying for his idiocy, if he can find a way to stay in the sport and make some money, more power to him.
I disagree with all of his bullshit rants, but find it kind of fascinating to watch someone so clueless about how his words and actions will be received.

Hey, I’m actually an idiot. I listened to two Leonard Garcia interviews yesterday and got them mixed up.
In this interview, Garcia said some stuff about Pulver showing up four days before the second Faber fight around 170.

I wonder if War Machine is the reason THQ decided that negative publicity would be an obstacle to overcome in their new UFC game.

Often when guys like War Machine get their game together they go on to do great things. They have passion and tons of energy, it’s just about getting it to flow in a positive direction. That is assuming that he’s got a frontal lobe. I’m not positive he does though.

I actually
Liked WM on TUF and his fight with JRoc in the finale was one of the best. I thought he had tons of potential and heart. Then he kept having those massive brain farts we all know him for…
Lets say he does get his shit straight, where does he go? StrikeForce? Will Coker want him?

Pavia is known for getting his guys slots as last-minute replacements, I suspect that’s where we’ll be seeing him in the immediate future.

And a last minute step in victory
with a conherent and well formed post fight interview would do wonders for his image at this point.

As a former Soldier, and Infantryman at that
It always kind of annoys me when athletes use terminology related to war, the military and soldiering in their nickname or terminology related to their sport.
Just saying.
