this fight (fedor/randy) makes sense for 100 since fedor doesn’t like exclusive contracts, but where would that leave affliction since there planning a show in jue/july? i wont hold my breath.

money talks

I can end up seeing it like this…

Whoever Fedor fights is introed to the crowd, then Fedor

“Weighting this much, from Russia, he’s 2124523-1, brought to you by M-1 & Afflication….The Last Guy anyone on the net really gives a shit about not in the UFC, Fedor”

you get the idea

Um yeah, ain’t happening.

IF we see Fedor vs Randy, why?
Fedor wins he beats a guy who Brock steamrolled.
Randy wins we have a new WAMMA champ! 3 HW belts in the UFC?
If Fedor fights on UFC 100 it still wont break 850,000 buys. Makes zero financial sense.

I think fedor right now is the #1 HW with Mir, Brock/Nog then everyone else. Before we start on Josh at 2, how bad would we be dumping on Mir,Brock,Nog if they fought Congo like he did Yvel.

Strikes me as pointless complaining. It would be hilarious if UFC was able to somehow make this dream fight happen and it was met with incessant whining. I just want to see Fedor in, if it takes a Randy fight to do it then so be it. The sides are talking again, but I don’t believe this will happen.

There would be no WAMMA champ in the UFC.

I hope Dana makes Fedor throw the WAMMA belt in one of his vlogs if this fight were to happen.

LOL at hendo vs bisping being the main event… for “UFC 100” no less.

by mmalogic on Feb 23, 2009 1:31 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I find it really hard to think of a fighter other than Brock would could main event over GSP at this point.

A man should never waste an opportunity to keep his mouth shut.

Yeah, that was some of the dumbest shit I ever heard. Was he being serious? Good god, if that was the main event I think I’d puke.

I know I’d much rather see Fedor fight Barnett, but a fight with Couture would be cool, simply because the symbolism of PRIDE fucking smashing UFCs face in.

I really don’t understand why people think like this.

Are you really still caught up in the Pride/UFC bullshit. Pride is dead, get over it.

by Phildo on Feb 23, 2009 2:15 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Awww…poor guy. You must’ve never been apart of a live PRIDE event. Since you have ever experienced that beauty I wouldn’t expect you to understand the devotion to that beauty. Sorry you missed the ship, new skillet.

I’ve seen them, but it doesn’t matter. It’s over now. It’s time to move on with your life.

If Fedor beating Randy will make you happy because of some karmic retribution for the demise of Pride, I’m glad you feel happy, but that’s really sad.

Can’t we just enjoy the fights?

The snail avatar suits you.

So your actual MMA devotion is to a MMA promoter that went out of business as opposed to the actual sport? Fedor doesn’t represent Pride he represents the Red Devil sport club, Pride was just a promotion that was paying him for fighs 2 years ago. Fighters represent their camps and coaches not someone who used to sign their checks.

This may be the dumbest comment that I’ve read on this site. Ever.

Yeah, I hear they were awesome, they actually handed out HGH and Dianabol at the door as you walked in.

This is not happening. There’s trouble brewing with Fedor and Affliction, but it’s not enough time to make a deal and work out all the issues.

There’s trouble brewing with Fedor and Affliction

Que? Do tell.

A lot is up in the air with Affliction. I can’t really comment on it but they are involved in a litigation nightmare with other apparel companies, and have shit flying at them from all fronts. In addition, the UFC basically spurned any idea of a co-promotion related settlement, so they are still trying to decide whether to do a third show. It partially depends on how many guys they can get to accept lower paydays, as well as whether they have to pay some of them regardless due to the language in the contracts.

On top of all of this, Fedor is not only not taking a paycut, there are rumors his management wants more now that they know he is their meal ticket.

by Michael Rome on Feb 23, 2009 9:03 PM EST up reply actions   1 recs

They didn’t realize that from the get-go? I thought Affliction was talking up Fedor as their #1 from the beginning.
