What's in UFC 100?
There has been lots of speculation on what Dana and his crew has in store for us in UFC 100.. Since it was the century mark, everyone assumes it will be special, but with ufc 91, 92, and 94 being massive hits, it's hard to think about how UFC 100 can top them..
Here's what we know so far:
-It's gonna be on July 11, in Las Vegas.
-Georges St. Pierre will defend his welterweight title against Thiago Alves.
-TUF coaches, Michael Bisping and Dan henderson will face off in a possible #1 contenders match for Anderson Silva's belt.
Thats a pretty good card right there, but since it is UFC 100 it has to be extra special. Dana said he has something up his sleeve..
St. Pierre will defend his title against No. 1 contender Thiago Alves at UFC 100. That fight will not be the main event, however. UFC 100 is going to deliver, it's going to be good.
The bisping and hendo fight is the match between the TUF coaches and could serve as a main event on its own, GSP is a big big star and for him only to be a co-main eventer would mean that the main event has to be HUGEEE.. Now, the UFC has a policy that if there is a title fight in the card, then that will automatically be the main event.. So what are the possibilities left?
-BJ Penn will defend the Lightweight Belt on UFC 99, less than a month before, so that rules out a LW title fight..
-The Heavyweight Belt will be decided on UFC 98. A Brock Lesnar fight can serve as the main event, but that would mean that he has to win without taking any damage because 100 will be held less than 2 months after.. A Mir win, makes this entire thing irrelevant. Even if he is able to compete at 100, GSP is the bigger star and would surely headline the event..
-The Middleweight Champ will have a 3 month period to prepare for his next fight if he was to compete at 100, but Anderson Silva or any other middleweight isn't much of a draw.
-That leaves the Light Heavyweight belt. If Rampage gets by Jardine at 96, this is the most logical fight to add as main event for UFC 100. If somehow he loses, then they can still hold Machida vs Evans. Lyoto isn't as big a star as Rampage, but since it's the UFC's marquee belt i dont see why that can't be in the main event..
So since they have the title fight = main event policy, The card would most likely look like UFC 92, stacked with 3 main events (2 title fights), and a few more good supporting bouts.. They could very well be on their way to breaking another PPV record because that on its own, would be one of its most star-studded events ever.
PS..
Now in a purely speculative wet dream, what if the UFC decides to overrule that policy because there is a fight that is much much bigger than any other title fight?
But wait..what other fight would be bigger than GSP/Alves or Evans/Rampage? ..one word.. fedor.

I know the top three fights will be magic a la’ 92 – I just hope the rest of the card kicks ass, too. This undercard should be fanfuckingtastic.

as long as the main card is stacked with good match ups plus the 3 main events.. I could care less if the undercard was full of fringe fighters and tuf alums..

The only promotion shoving TUF fighters down our throats is the UFC. How can any promotion use TUF alum in the main event? UFC doesn’t even cut the sucky ones.

Things I would like to see at 100
- Randy commentating
- Goldy, Rogan, Randy, Dana, Fertittas all in a Tux.
- A new intro to the PPV scrapping the old Gladiator one
- A new Octagon/Production facelift, colors, graphics, music etc. A white canvas perhaps? Please?
- Special UFC 100 bikini uniforms for the Ring girls ;)
- GSP vs Alves
- Evans vs Rampage
- Hendo vs Bisping
- Sanchez vs Huerta (yes I know it won’t but this is what I want to see :)
- Titos return in Tito vs Chuck 3? :P

Randy I agree
I would be happy with suits. Tux looks like they are trying too hard.
I like the Gladiator entrance but dont really care.
White canvas would be sexy but, Joe daddies blood all over it would be messy.
meh on the bikinis. looks whorish, t least theones now have a little class.

I agree that the Main Event is planning to be Rashad Evans vs. Rampage.
It makes sense, since Rashad needs to defend the belt. Rampage and Rashad will also sell a lot of PPVs. No other matchup could supercede GSP-Alves at this point.
Plus, Joe Silva likes to put multiple guys from the same camp on the same UFC card, as it helps in the training camps. This works for GSP/Rashad and Rampage/Bisping for UFC 100.

I wish they would have put Bisping/hendo on 99 and wandy/franklin on 100 but it probably didn’t work with the timing of the show.

I would agree with that, but I do think you are right and that UFC 100 was the first show that they could get Bisping-Hendo, timing-wise.
I’d love to see Couture on the UFC 100 card, now that it appears UFC 99 is too soon for him to fight and have an adequate training camp.

I can't f'ing wait
I went to UFC 87 and 94 and those were both great but this is gonna be so sick I don’t know if any card will be able to top it, I wouldn’t miss this for anything.

Nice, however, I don’t see where adding Fedor to the card would be bigger than GSP/Alves or Rashad/Rampage. For hardcore fans like the people that blog or check blogs everyday…it’s a big deal. However, to the casual fan they still don’t know who Fedor is.
This is just my personal preference, but I think Fedor/Couture is even more of a mismatch now than it was when I first said it last year right here on BE.

Most casual fans know who Fedor is. The problem is buying into the Affliction brand which they hardly ever hear of.

i'd be a mismatch, but i'd still watch it.. If he gets by couture, then he can face the champ after.. (thats if he really gets signed)

They’ll need a big HW fight without Lesnar or Mir. I like a Cain-Herring matchup here.

That would be cool to round out the main card, I’d also like to see Jon Jones on here too and maybe Demian Maia or Anthony Johnson.
