How does Bravo advance his students? Pretty liberally or is he more conservative in awarding belts? That makes a pretty huge difference here.

In terms of pure jiu jitsu, most mma fighters will crush your average bjj blue belt simply through experience and toughness.
A blue belt from Eddie Bravo in this case is pretty much a token gesture I think. He can’t give him anything higher yet and he has to give him something.
